A pair of sandals once worn by the late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs were auctioned off by California-based Julien’s Auctions on Monday. It fetched an amazing $218,750. The sale of the aforementioned pair of Birkenstock sandals, according to the auction house, set a record for the “highest ever” sum paid for a pair of sandals at an auction.
According to the auction company, Steve Jobs wore these sandals throughout the 1970s and 1980s. “This pair of Birkenstock sandals were previously owned by Mark Sheff, the house manager to Steve Jobs,” it informed.
The sandals were worn by Steve Jobs during crucial times for Apple
The auction company further stated that Steve Jobs frequently wore these sandals at critical times in Apple’s history.
“In 1976, he hatched the beginnings of the Apple computer in a Los Altos garage with Appleās co-founder Steve Wozniak while occasionally wearing these sandals. When Jobs discovered the ingenuity and practicality of Birkenstocks, he became fascinated,” it said.
The sandals were offered for sale as part of Julien’s Auctions “Icons and Idols: Rock n’ Roll” public auction. Which also included memorabilia, apparel, musical instruments, and jewelry belonging to musicians and pop culture figures. Like, John Lennon, Elvis Presley, and Kurt Cobain.
