Five people, including three labourers from Nepal, died and two others were injured with incessant rains lashing Uttarakhand for the second consecutive day on Monday. 

The labourers were staying in a tent at Samkhal near Lansdowne when rubble flowing down from a field above due to the rains buried them alive, District Magistrate Vijay Kumar Jogdande said.

22 devotees who were stuck due to inclement weather while coming back from Kedarnath were rescued by SDRF and police on Monday. Video of the rescue shows a 55-year-old being carried away as he couldn’t walk.

Authorities have halted the Chardham yatra temporarily and advised pilgrims not to proceed to the Himalayan temples till the weather improves.

Another video shows Border Roads Organisation rescuing a car with passengers which was stuck in a overflowing nallah near the Badrinath highway.
