This time around, the Forbes list of richest self-made women in America features five women who have their roots in India. Their total net worth adds up to $4.6 billion. Here’s everything about them.

Jayashree Ullal

Jayashree Ullal

Ullal is the chief operating officer and president of Arista Network for the last 13 years. She ranks 16 on this list and has a $1.7 billion net worth. She owns 5 percent of stocks from the Arista network. Ullal is also on the board of directors of Snowflake, a cloud computing company that went public in 2020. She got her bachelor’s in electrical engineering from San Francisco State University. Additionally, she also has a masters’s in engineering management from Santa Clara University.

Neerja Sethi

Neerja Sethi ranks 26 on the list and has a net worth of $1 billion. Sethi is the co-founder of Syntel, an IT consulting and outsourcing firm. She obtained her bachelor’s degree and MBA from Delhi University. She also earned about $510 million for her stake when Atos SE bought Syntel for $3.4 billion.

Neha Narkhede lists 29th on the list of America’s self-made women. She is the former chief tech officer and co-founder of Confluent, a cloud company. Additionally, she was instrumental in developing LinkedIn. She incorporated the use of Apache Kafka, an open-source messaging system to manage the huge data influx. She also owns 8 percent of the firm when it went public earlier this year.

Reshma Shetty

Reshma Shetty

Reshma Shetty lists 39 on the Forbes list and, is the co-founder of Ginkgo Bioworks. Her company uses robotics and data analytics to speed the process of making and discovering new organisms. Her net worth is valued at $750 million. The company also opened up its facilities in Boston for coronavirus research. It was a major driver in increasing testing during the peak of the pandemic.

Indra Nooyi

Indra Nooyi

Nooyi has a net worth of $290 million. She has spent over 12 years at a top post in PepsiCo. This former chair and CEO also prevented a bid to break up PepsiCo. She also introduced environment-friendly systems and healthier products to the firm. She grew up in India but got her MBA from Yale. In 2019, she joined Amazon‘s board of directors.
