For its die-hard fans, the Toxic Avenger reboot promises to be nasty enough. The Motion Picture Association gave the star-studded remake of the ultra-violent 1984 cult classic an R rating on Wednesday. The film is supposed, “strong violence and gore, language throughout, sexual references and brief graphic nudity.”
The film will now join the list of R-rated superhero films. The premise of the film is yet unknown. Therefore it’s unclear where Kevin Bacon’s villain comes in. Dinklage, on the other hand, will not be portraying Melvin Ferd Junko III. He will rather have his own new character Winston. For its over-the-top aggression and low-budget appeal, the original ’80s superhero comedy developed a cult following. And, based on the official synopsis, The Toxic Avenger is back with a fury.

The official synopsis reads- “Based on the 1984 cult classic of the same name.”
“Set in a fantasy world following Winston, a stereotypical weakling who works as a janitor at Garb-X health club; and is diagnosed with a terminal illness that can only be cured by an expensive treatment that his greedy, power-hungry employer refuses to pay for. After deciding to take matters into his own hands and rob his company. Winston falls into a pit of toxic waste and is transformed into a deformed monster that sets out to do good and get back at all the people who have wronged him.”
It may be impossible to capture the campy character of the original Toxic Avenger. The original shooting was done on a shoestring budget. However, the newly revealed rating suggests that Blair’s remake will be authentic to the original, at least in terms of visual content. No trailer for the film is currently available. However, fans of the 1984 cult movie can be sure that the recreation of The Toxic Avenger will be just as crazy and graphic.
