The Nashik police have issued a notice to Union minister Narayan Rane, asking him to appear before them for questioning on September 2. The notice is in connection with an FIR registered against him over his remarks against Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
Narayan Rane was arrested on Tuesday and later in the night secured bail from the Mahad coirt. While the judge said that the union minister’s arrest was justified, his custodial interrogation was not needed.
The bail order also said Rane “should not commit a similar type of offence” and should not tamper with evidence.
Rane has landed in a soup over his “slap Uddhav” remark that has riled up the ruling Shiv Sena.
During his speech on Monday evening at a hall in Mahad city in Raigad, Rane said it was shameful that chief minister Uddhav Thackery about the count of years of independence during his speech and had he been there he would have slapped the Shiv Sena leader.
