The now expelled leader, Naveen Jindal, has reportedly received several death threats from around the nation.
Uttar Pradesh: Now expelled BJP Delhi unit media head was reported to have visited the Banke Bihari temple early today.
Responding to journalists over his controversial remark that set the nation ablaze over this month, Jindal claimed that it was never his intention to insult or defame the religious emotions of other communities.
The leader claimed that he had received several death-threats from around the nation over the week. Jindal and his family have since moved out of their Delhi residence.
“I would pray to (Banke) Bihari jee that there should be peace in the country. My statement was taken out of context. My intention was never to insult or hurt the religious sentiments of people of any religion,” he added.
“The way people use foul language for our gods and goddesses, I had only questioned such people. My aim was not to hurt anybody’s religious sentiments. We believe in ‘sarva dharm sambhaav’,” Jindal responded to reporters.
To questions regarding purported death-threats and security concerns he responded, “I have come at the feet of Banke Bihari Maharaj. What can be greater security than this? I have informed the Delhi Police about the threats and it is doing its job.”
In an effort to minimize the casualties of the spokesperson’s comment the BJP had expelled Delhi unit media head Naveen Jindal on the 5th of June early this month. On similar grounds BJP journalist and party spokesperson Nupur Sharma was also expelled from the party.
The comments made on Prophet Muhammed by the duo had raised eyebrows across international media and diplomats over the month.
