Dwayne Johnson unleashes Black Adam first footage at DC FanDome

During the 2021 edition of DC FanDome, Dwayne Johnson let free as Black Adam, revealing the first footage from the much-anticipated eponymous film. He showed the first scene from the film, which is his first appearance in the DC Extended Universe.

The first clip showed a group of explorers exploring a tunnel when they come face to face with Johnson’s vicious supervillain, who then proceeds to wreak havoc on them.

During the free virtual fan event, Johnson said he was “born to play Black Adam” in the DCEU. “This character, this film, this universe has been a gigantic passion project of mine for a very long time and I’ve worked so hard work these hands, my fingers to the bone on this project because it’s the kind of project that I know comes along once in a lifetime. And the truth is, I was born to play Black Adam,” the 49-year-old actor said.

Zachary Levi stars in Black Adam, a spin-off from Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema’s Shazam! As a villain corrupted by power, the character originally features in DC Comics in the 1940s. In the early 2000s, he became an anti-hero.

Jaume Collet-Serra directed the film, who previously helmed Dwayne Johnson in the upcoming Jungle Cruise. Black Adam is currently in post-production, according to Dwayne Johnson. The film will feature some of the largest action sequences ever filmed.

“The film has without questions some of the biggest action sequences, I have ever been a part of. And I’m so proud and excited of our incredible team who are working away to create breathtaking holy s**t scenes that I know you’re really,” he added.

Aldis Hodge will play Hawkman, Noah Centineo will play Atom Smasher. Quintessa Swindell will play Cyclone, and also Pierce Brosnan will play Dr. Fate.

Former James Bond star Brosnan stated in a behind-the-scenes video that working on the film was an “unparalleled experience.”

“I’ve never seen the likes of this before. Having done James Bond for 10 years for films, nothing compares to this,” he said.

Johnson also co-produced the film with Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia’s Seven Bucks Productions, as well as Beau Flynn’s FlynnPictureCo.

On July 29, 2022, Black Adam will release in the United States.
