The newly appointed Speaker Rahul Narvekar announced that Pawar will take over as Leader of Opposition in the Assembly.
NCP has emerged as the single largest opposition party in the 288-member House, Narvekar added.
Earlier in the day, the Eknath Shinde government easily reached the majority mark on Monday, winning the trust vote. Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray faction filed a new petition in the Supreme Court on Monday.
Devendra Fadnavis, while addressing the house after the floor test, said he will always support and back Shinde. He added that Shinde’s tenure as the Maharashtra Chief Minister will be successful.
Fadnavis said, “When the Maha Aghadi Vikas (MVA) was first formed, I said it was unnatural. People had insulted me then. But I am back now and I have Shinde with me.” He said he will take revenge on those who insulted him, adding that his revenge was to forgive them.
‘There will be no power struggle and I will only work to make Shinde’s tenure more successful.
