Hate Speech Row : SC Rejects Plea For Arrest Of Jitendra Tyagi, Yati Narsinghanand

Meanwhile, Jitendra Tyagi, formerly known as Waseem Rizvi before his conversion to Hinduism, will surrender in a Haridwar court today in a hate speech row. 

Mumbai: The Indian Muslim Shia Isna Ashari Jamaat had asked the Supreme Court on Thursday to order the detention of and Jitendra Narayan Tyagi, who were charged with using hate speech.
Additionally, the petitioner asked for the prohibition of Tyagi’s book “Muhammad”. The plea was withdrawn by the petitioner.

In the meantime, Tyagi, who was originally known as Waseem Rizvi before converting to Hinduism, would turn himself in to police in a hate speech case today in a Haridwar court.
In the Dharma Sansad case, the Supreme Court granted temporary release to Tyagi in May for a period of three months based on his medical condition.

The top court denied his request for a bail extension on Monday and ordered him to appear in court on September 2.

In a video that surfaced on Wednesday, Tyagi expressed concern that he would be assassinated in a suicide assault by Muslim fundamentalists and said that his life is in danger.

Additionally, he said that some criminals from Haridwar’s Jwalapur plotted to behead him while he was in jail but were thwarted by the rigorous standards of the facility.

According to PTI, he claimed that because minorities in India enjoy greater freedom than the majority, they are able to criticise Hindu deities while using Article 19 of the Constitution as a cover.

Whereas even our allusions to what is contained in their sacred texts are viewed as hate speech, according to Tyagi.

In connection with the Dharma Sansad that was held in Haridwar in December of last year, where allegedly extremely offensive comments were made against Islam and its adherents, Tyagi was detained in January of this year.

Tyagi is one of more than ten people charged, including the contentious priest of the Dasna temple near Ghaziabad named Narasinghananada.
