Voting for the Himachal Pradesh legislative assembly elections ended at 5 PM today, with fortunes of 412 candidates from all parties locked in the Electronic Voting Machines that will be opened up on December 8 for counting. As voting started in the morning in the hill state, not much of excitement could be seen as only 5% votes were polled in the first hour. However, as the day progressed, the polling percentage grew exponentially to rise to 66 % at the end of voting at 5 PM. The voter turnout is expected to rise by a few percent since people had lined up outside several polling booths at 5 PM and will get an opportunity to cast their votes. However, the voter turnout appears to be lowest in the last two decades in the state.
