Amid a wave of extreme weather conditions across the country, Jammu and Kashmir received rainfall along with the first snowfall of the season in some areas on Saturday.

Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police said that Mughal Road, which connects Jammu’s twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri with Kashmir’s Shopian district has been closed due to heavy snowfall at Peer Ki Gali area.

There are also reports of landslide triggered by heavy rains at Cafeteria Morh near Ramban town, forcing the suspension of traffic at Jammu-Srinagar national highway, the only all-weather road linking Kashmir with the rest of the country.

The weatherman has forecast wet weather in the twin union territories of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh for the next 24 hours and said there will be a significant improvement from October 24 afternoon.
