Johnson and Johnson gets EUA in India
Finally, the vaccine’s approval comes at a crucial time. That’s because this can act as an important step in fast-tracking the vaccine drive in India. “On August 5, 2021, the pharmaceutical company applied for EUA of its single-dose COVID-19 vaccine to the government of India,” stated a spokesperson from the vaccine company.
“We are pleased to announce that on August 7, 2021, the Government of India issued Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) for the Jannsen Covid-19 single-dose vaccine in India, to prevent Covid-19 in individuals 18 years of age and older,” added the spokesperson.
Is the J&J vaccine effective?
The single-dose COVID-19 vaccine has good efficacy. Moreover,as per the drug manufacturer, the vaccine has an effective rate of 85 percent. Additionally, in its latest results, the vaccine is over 82 percent effective in keeping infection at bay. Additionally, reports state that the vaccine is effective against the new delta variant also.
As of now, a total of five COVID-19 vaccines have EUA from the Indian Government, including the Janssen vaccine. The others are, Covishield (the Indian-produced AstraZeneca shot), Bharath Bio tech’s Covaxin, Moderna, and Russian Sputnik V.
