July 2021 was the hottest month ever recorded on Earth

July 2021 is officially the hottest month. Not just in 2021 but, in history according to global data published by National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI).

July 2021: The hottest month in history

New reports from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reveal more on the rate of devastation and global warming. “In this case, first place is the worst place to be. July is typically the world’s warmest month of the year. But, July 2021 outdid itself as the hottest July and month ever recorded. This new record adds to the disturbing and disruptive path. The climate change has set for the globe,” said Rick Spinrad, the Administrator at NOAA.

Here’s why July earns the title

Around the globe, the combined ocean surface and the land temperature reached 1.67°F more than the 60.4°F of the 20th century. Additionally, it was also 0.02 of a °F more than the previous record in 2016, 2019, and 2020. A similar trend was observed in the land surface temperature with a shocking 2.77°F above the average temperature of 1.54°F.

However, a similar trend was also found across various regions. Asia saw its hottest July since 2010 and, Europe saw its second hottest July since 2018. Other continents also observed their top ten warmest Julys in history. But, this is just the beginning. According to the data, this year will likely hold a rank among the world’s warmest years. It is as per the Global Annual Temperature Rankings published by NCEI. “Scientists from across the globe delivered the most up-to-date assessment of how the climate is changing. It is a sobering IPCC report that finds that human influence is. Unequivocally, it is causing climate change, and it confirms the impacts are widespread and rapidly intensifying,” added Spinrad.
