At the 2022 MTV EMA on Sunday night, BTS took home the top prize. The Bangtan brothers won the Biggest Fans Award for the fifth year in a row. The event was held in Düsseldorf, Germany, and Taika Waititi and Rita Ora served as the hosts.

The K-pop boyband was also up for Best K-Pop, but Lisa of BLACKPINK took up the award for her solo album Lalisa. The Best Metaverse Performance Award went to BLACKPINK as well.

K-pop had a significant night. Another well-known K-pop group, SEVENTEEN won two prizes: Best New Artist and Best Push. TXT also returned home bearing a trophy for Best Asia Act at EMA’s

The night, however, belonged to Taylor Swift, who brought home four prizes, the most any artist could win at this year’s EMAs. For All Too Well (Taylor’s Version), Swift received Best Artist, Best Video, Best Pop, and Best Longform video awards.

Even the singer unexpectedly showed up at the awards ceremony to accept her prize. She said, “The fans are the sole reason any of this occurs for me,” as she accepted her first award of the evening.

For the evening, Nicki Minaj also took home three honors. However, the rapper was not present to accept the honors. Harry Styles also received a prize in the category of best live performance.
