Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], April 15 (ANI): After Karnataka Minister Eshwarappa announced his resignation from the cabinet, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary Dushyant Gautam on Friday said that the minister needs to step down only if he is guilty in the contractor death case.
“Justice is equal for all, under the law, if anyone is guilty, he will not be released. He will not be spared, if he is guilty, then he will have to register and the law will also take its own course,” Gautam told ANI.
While reacting to the Hanskhali rape-murder case in West Bengal, Gautam said that Congress and other parties who slammed the Hathras gang rape incident must take note of the rape case in West Bengal.
“Congress and all the people who were making noise inside Hathras should also see the incident of West Bengal today. An incident has happened to someone, rape has happened, murder has happened, the girl should get justice and whatever action should be taken under justice, there should also be a thorough investigation,” Gautam said.
On Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s criticism of the demolition of houses in Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone. Gautam said that whatever has been done, must have been done under the law,
“If they want to challenge, then they can challenge the action in the court,” he added.
Earlier on Friday, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai confirmed that Minister KS Eshwarappa will tender his resignation from his ministerial post today following allegations of corruption.
Earlier, Eshwarappa announced his resignation following the row over his alleged role in the suicide of the contractor. He said that he will hand over his resignation to Chief Minister Bommai today.
