LG Saxena makes street visits to resolve infrastructural issues of Delhi
New Delhi [India], May 26 (ANI): The new Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena on Thursday, who described himself as the Local Guardian – LG of the people of Delhi, took to the streets setting the priorities and perspective for the way ahead.

After assuming the office as Lieutenant Governor today, Saxena undertook a field visit to the area from Connaught Place to the Airport and emphasised on the need for coordination amongst different Government Agencies and urban local bodies for the upgradation of city infrastructure and for the beautification of the city.
Saxena was accompanied by Chief Secretary, Delhi, Chairman, NDMC, Vice Chairman, DDA, Commissioner MCD and senior officials of other concerned departments/agencies, inspected areas like S.P. Marg, Dhaula Kuan, Mahipalpur, Mehram Nagar and Mandi House round about amongst others.
Saxena stressed the need to build Delhi as a global city instructed with the effective cooperation of the government and civil society. He directed the concerned officials to take necessary action towards ensuring symmetry in city infrastructure including roads, footpaths, street lights, and signages. He emphasised ensuring all round cleanliness, timely desilting of drains, the greening of roadsides and maintenance of the central verges.
He laid special emphasis on Horticultural overhaul of the area by planting suitable all weather flowering plants and aesthetical landscaping that include a step garden and water fountains, etc.
Laying stress on the use of recycled drain water for the purpose of greening dry stretches, the Lieutenant Governor also emphasized on complete collection and disposal of garbage to ensure sanitation and cleanliness.
With regards to the above mentioned, Saxena instructed officials to come up with a concrete and comprehensive plan of action with fixed timelines through inter-departmental/agency coordination. (ANI)
