As stated in the recently released season 1 finale, Loki season 2 is now in the works at Marvel Studios. Tom Hiddleston’s MCU adventure continues on television. Also, he will reprise his role as the God of Mischief when the show returns for its second season.
Loki is the next MCU show to premiere on Disney+. It begins with the trickster escaping with the Tesseract following the failed New York leg of Avengers: Endgame’s time heist. The Time Variance Authority/TVA, an organization that supposedly manages the correct flow of time, quickly arrested him. Instead of being immediately pruned for deviating from his pre-determined course, Agent Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson) enlisted his assistance in tracking down a rogue Loki version, Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino). However, after discovering that the Time-Keepers do not exist, Loki and Sylvie decide to work together to find the creature responsible for the TVA.
There’s a definite set-up for further storylines at the end of Loki season 1. However, it wasn’t until the post-credits sequence that the God of Mischief’s TVA form had the words “LOKI WILL RETURN IN SEASON 2” that Loki season 2 was confirmed.
Loki season 2 premiere
Loki is the only MCU show that has received a renewal thus far. WandaVision is already a limited series. While The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is still waiting for word on a possible second season. This isn’t exactly surprising, though. Coming into the Hiddleston-led series, Marvel Studios was very up about Loki’s storyline having the potential to span several seasons.
It all makes sense now that the season 1 finale is out. Sylvie pushes the God of Mischief back into the TVA when they discover Jonathan Majors’ He Who Remains. He was sent to a different version of the same organization. It is one where Kang the Conqueror openly runs the bureau, rather than the one he was previously in.
Now the only issue is when Loki season 2 will premiere. The current Marvel Studios slate, both on the big and small screen, is full until at least 2023. With that in mind, fitting in the return of the just ended program may be difficult. Another thing to consider is Kang the Conqueror’s (and his variations’) participation in other initiatives.
He’s only to appear as the main villain in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania thus far. But he might show up in other films as well, especially if they have anything to do with the multiverse’s unleashing after Loki season 1.
