Mumbai: Anil Parab who took oath as Minister of Transport in the Maharashtra government appeared before the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday for the third consecutive day in connection with a money laundering case registered against him by the probe agency.
Mr. Parab reached the Enforcement Directorate’s office at Ballard Estate in south Mumbai around 2.45 pm, an official said.
The Enforcement Directorate has been quizzing him in the money laundering probe linked to the alleged violation of coastal regulation zone provisions in the construction of Sai resort in the Dapoli beach area of Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri district, he said.
Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate had questioned Mr. Parab for more than six hours on Wednesday and over 10 hours on Tuesday.
Mr. Parab, 57, who is a three-time member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council holds the transport and parliamentary affairs portfolios.
The Enforcement Directorate had raided his premises and those allegedly linked to him in May, after registering a fresh case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against him and others. However, the Shiv Sena leader denied the allegations.
Meanwhile, there is a new twist in the high voltage poltical drama as Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has offered rebel MLAs, and MPs to come back to Mumbai, he said that Shiv Sena will take an exit from the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance.
Mr. Raut today also claimed of being in touch with 20 MLAs from the Eknath Shinde camp in Guwahati. He also said that everyone will see when the floor test happens, adding that those who leave the party under pressure from Enforcement Directorate are not real devotees of party founder Balasaheb Thackeray.
