Meghalaya Brothel Case: UP Court Grants 2 Day Transit Remand For The BJP Leader

The BJP, which is an ally of the ruling National People’s Party, has said it will stage a peaceful protest against the alleged harassment of their leaders by Meghalaya police.

Lucknow: BJP’s politician Bernard Marak, who is accused of operating a brothel at his property, has been given a two-day transit remand by an Uttar Pradesh court for the Meghalaya police. Today, Mr. Marak will be transported to Meghalaya.

The former militant who is now the state vice-president of the BJP will be taken to Tura and brought before a local court. On Tuesday, he was taken into custody in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh.

The BJP, which is a partner in the government’s National People’s Party, has said that it will hold a peaceful demonstration against the state police allegedly harassing its leaders.

According to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, the matter must not be politicised and police must be given the freedom to carry out their duties.

Five kids were reportedly saved, according to police, during a raid on Mr. Marak’s farmstead on July 22. They said there was a brothel operating there, and during the raid, 47 males and 26 women were apprehended. In this case, a magisterial investigation has been mandated.
