Miss World 2021 postponed

The Miss World 2021 finale was postponed indefinitely. The grand finale was going to happen on December 16 in Puerto Rico. However, due to the health and safety interests of everyone, the event is now not going to happen. Within the next 90 days, the finale will be rescheduled at Puerto Rico’s Jose Miguel Agrelot Coliseum.

According to sources, 17 persons, including Miss World 2021 candidates and staff, have contracted Covid-19. One of them is Miss India 2020 Manasa Varanasi, who is representing India at the contest.

The Miss World Organisation released a statement to announce the news. “Miss World 2021 temporarily postpones global broadcast finale in Puerto Rico due to health and safety interest of contestants, staff, crew, and the general public.”

The statement further mentioned why the decision to postpone the event took place. “As of yesterday, additional safety measures were implemented in the best interest of the contestants, production team, and spectators, understanding the event’s increased risks on the stage and in the dressing room. However, after additional positive cases were confirmed this morning after consulting with health officials and experts, the postponement decision was made”.

“Once and only when contestants and staff are cleared by health officials and advisors, will contestants and related staff return to their home countries”. The official statement mentions.

Julia Morley, CEO of Miss World Ltd, said, “We are very much looking forward to the return of our contestants to compete for the Miss World crown.”
