The iconic brick phone or Nokia 6310 is back! First released in 2011, the phone makes a comeback on its 20th anniversary. Here’s all about the re-release of the classic phone.
Nokia 6310: Back with a bang
The classic Nokia 6310 is making a grand come-back since its first release 20 years ago in the UK. HMD Globals, the makers of Nokia phones revealed that the new phone will hold the iconic silhouette and long battery life. Additionally, the phone will come with the classic 90s Snake game. The phone will keep up the ‘brick’ strong form factor. However, the phone is not just a ghost of the past. The re-release comes with subtle changes to mark the technological advancement of the last two decades.
What’s new with the brick phone?
The phone initially came with a 1.8 inch and 120×160 pixel screen. However, the new phone comes with a slightly larger 2.8 inch and 320×240 pixel screen. The phone also comes with a larger keypad and retails for about $82. “That yearning for nostalgia makes the new Nokia 6310 the perfect tonic,” stated a Nokia spokesperson. The phone was once beloved by teenagers for its long battery life, reliability, and sturdiness. Additionally, it comes with a wireless FM radio.
Moreover, the phone is now reinvented and refreshed to meet modern needs. The charging cable is upgraded to a MicroUSB cable. “With the Nokia 6310, it is all fun and games. You can listen to your favorite news channels, sports games, or music stations on the go with reliable connectivity or play an intense game of Snake!” stated the firm. However, the one thing that has not changed is its long battery life. One full charge of the brick phone can last you 21 days on standby.
