The plea, filed through advocates Asim Sarode and Ajinkya Udane, urged the court to direct the rebel leaders to return to the state and resume their duties

Mumbai: On Monday, a PIL was submitted in the Bombay High Court accusing Eknath Shinde and other Shiv Sena dissident MLAs of inciting “political turbulence” and internal unrest within the Maharashtra administration.

An action against the rebel leaders was sought in the PIL, which was brought by a group of seven individuals, for “omission of duties and moral wrongs committed, resulting to disrespect for the public rights and good governance.”

Citizens Asim Sarode and Ajinkya Udane, attorneys, submitted the petition on their behalf. It requested that the highest court order the rebel leaders to return to the state and take up their previous positions.

“Instead of working for the community, the respondents (Eknath Shinde and other rebel MLAs) are aiming at securing personal gains by instigating an internal disorder within the governance of the State,” the petition stated.

The appeal demanded that the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government present a thorough assurance plan outlining how it would operate without a number of its ministers.

Eknath Shinde, who is in charge of the uprising against Shiv Sena Chief and Gujarat Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, has been camped out at a Guwahati hotel for the past six days. Gujarat is governed by the BJP.

Nearly 40 of the more than 50 MLAs who Mr. Shinde claims to support him are members of the Shiv Sena.

On Sunday, he filed a petition with the Supreme Court to challenge the disqualification notice that Deputy Speaker Narahari Zirwal had issued to him and 15 other rebel lawmakers, claiming that the action was “illegal and unconstitutional.”

The Eknath Shinde camp has also contested the Deputy Speaker’s no-confidence motion’s denial.

The rebels have asked Narahari Zirwal for orders not to act on the Shiv Sena’s last week-filed disqualification petition till the issue of his removal is resolved.
