New Delhi: According to the Press Trust of India (PTI), on Thursday, shortly after landing in the capital, Droupadi Murmu, the presidential candidate for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to PM Modi, all sections of society in India have supported and appreciated her candidature for the post of President.
PM Modi is rumoured to be the first proposer when she submits her nomination papers on Friday. Many prominent BJP members, including ministers for the Union and officials from other parties who support her candidacy, are also expected to be among the proposers.
PM Modi stated in a tweet, “Met Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji. Her Presidential nomination has been appreciated across India by all sections of society. Her understanding of grassroots problems and vision for India’s development is outstanding.”

She will also speak with numerous top leaders before starting a national push to get support from various political parties.
The 64-year-old leader from Odisha will be the first tribal person and second woman to hold the office of President of India if elected, which has a good chance given that Ms. Murmu, already has the backing of the majority of the electoral college, as reported by PTI.
On July 18, there will be a presidential election, and on July 21, the results will be tallied. Nominations must be submitted by June 29. The electoral college, which consists of MPs from both Houses of Parliament and MLAs from every state, including the Union Territories of Delhi and Puducherry, elects the president.
Former Union minister Yashwant Sinha is the joint candidate of the opposition for the seat.
