PM Modi’s Mother Hiraben Modi Passes Away, PM Arrives For Final Rites

Hiraben Modi was admitted to the hospital on late Tuesday night after she complained of breathlessness. She also had complained of phlegm.

Ahmedabad| Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother Hiraben Modi passed away on Friday morning. She was 100 years old. Hiraben breathed her last at 3:30 am at the UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Center in Ahmedabad. She was admitted to the hospital on late Tuesday night after she complained of breathlessness. She also had complained of phlegm.

PM Modi reached Ahmedabad at 7:45 am. From here he directly went to brother Pankaj Modi’s house in Raisan village of Gandhinagar. The last journey of Hiraben began as soon as he arrived. Modi went to the hearse carrying the body on his shoulder. PM was also sitting in the hearse. She will be cremated at the crematorium located in Sector-30.

PM Modi informed about Hiraben’s death via tweet. On Friday morning at 6:20 am, he wrote – “The glorious century rests at the feet of God. In mother, I have always felt that trinity, which includes the journey of an ascetic, the symbol of a selfless karma yogi and a life committed to values.”

Modi further wrote- “When I met her on her 100th birthday, she had said one thing, which I will always remember, that work with intelligence and live life with purity.” Hiraben celebrated her 99th birthday in June itself. Prime Minister Modi had come to meet her at that time. PM had washed Hiraben’s feet and touched the same water to his eyes.

He tweeted- “Mother is the first friend and teacher of a person’s life. The pain of losing whom is undoubtedly the biggest pain in the world.”

BJP President JP Nadda:

He tweeted- “Hiraba ji’s struggling and virtuous life is always inspiring, whose love and integrity gave the country successful leadership. Mother’s departure is an irreparable loss, it is impossible to fill this void.”

Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel:

He said, “I am deeply saddened by the demise of Narendra Bhai Modi’s mother Pujya Hiraba. Hiraba was a symbol of generosity, simplicity, hard work and high values of life. I pray that God rests his soul in peace.”

UP Chief Minister Yogi:

He tweeted- “Mother is the whole world for a son. The death of a mother is an unbearable and irreparable loss for a son. The demise of respected mother of PM Modi is very sad. May Lord Shri Ram give place to the departed pious soul at his holy feet.”
