Quentin Tarantino will auction off seven uncut scenes from his landmark 1994 film “Pulp Fiction.” The movie portions will be accessible only by the buyer and will include the film’s uncut first handwritten screenplays as well as special comments by the director.

As part of an address at the NFT.NYC conference in Times Square Tuesday, Quentin Tarantino took to the stage to describe the writing process for “Pulp Fiction.” “I’m excited to be presenting these exclusive scenes from PULP FICTION to fans,” Tarantino mentions in a statement. “Secret Network and Secret NFTs provide a whole new world of connecting fans and artists and I’m thrilled to be a part of that.”

The original manuscript, he said, had scribbles all over it as well as doodles and cross-outs. The character played by John Travolta was, in the original draft, named Edgar, Tarantino revealed. In 2019, “Pulp Fiction” celebrated its 25th anniversary, and it remains one of Tarantino’s most beloved directorial endeavors. Eventually, Tarantino won the Palme d’Or at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival, the film grossed over $200 million worldwide. As a result, it received seven Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. Tarantino received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay.

NFTs, which allow art and collectibles owners to trace ownership via the blockchain, have risen in popularity, leading producers are looking for new ways to keep people interested. Tarantino’s coins are based on the Secret Network, a blockchain focused on anonymity. The drop will be supported by SCRT Labs, the development company behind the Secret Network. For the auction, the filmmaker is collaborating with OpenSea.

“NFTs could be the most disruptive technology to come out of this decade,” says Guy Zyskind. He is the co-founder of Secret Network and CEO of SCRT Labs. “The art community is alive with innovation. Whereas the media is actively exploring all the potential use cases associated with the technology. Now, we have privacy and access controls courtesy of Secret Network. Consequently, that will enable a whole litany of new potential use cases.”

Moreover, any celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Snoop Dogg, and Eminem, have backed their own tokens or collections. This is Tarantino’s one of the first high-profile stealth debuts.
