Ain Sefra, a small North African desert town, is currently under a 16-inch snowfall.
In the Sahara Desert in Africa, temperatures are as high as 58 degrees Celsius. A photographer has likewise captured mesmerizing images of snow blanketing dunes.
Photographer Karim Bouchetata captured magnificent images of snow and ice in the Algerian town of Ain Sefra. The temperatures dropped to -2 degrees this week.
Snow has fallen in the town for the fifth time in 42 years. The prior occurrences were in 1979, 2016, 2018, and 2021.
The Atlas Mountains surround the town, which is roughly a thousand meters above sea level.
