Nitish Kumar takes oath as Bihar CM, Tejaswi yadav as Deputy CM
Nitish Kumar yesterday ended the alliance with the BJP and joined hands with the Rashtriya Janata Dal.

Mumbai: The Bihar’s Chacha-Bhatija duo made an emphatic return today as JDU leader took oath as the Bihar Chief Minister for the eighth time, a day after severing relations with the BJP and reuniting with the Mahagathbandhan. In a ceremony at the Raj Bhavan in Patna, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav also took the oath to serve as the deputy chief minister.

After Tejashwi Yadav, who was at the time his deputy chief minister, was accused of corruption, Nitish Kumar quit the Mahagathbandhan in July 2017 and allied himself with the BJP. After the grand alliance won the assembly elections in November 2015, the 71-year-old politician was elected chief minister for a fifth time.

Speaking after the oath ceremony, Mr Kumar threw a challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, questioning whether he would be re-elected in 2024.

“I have no desire to become prime minister. The crucial question is: Will the candidate who entered in 2014 win in 2024? “asked Mr. Kumar. Additionally, he frequently vowed to fight hard for “Opposition unity.”

He responded to the BJP’s charge that he had betrayed and violated the will of the people by saying, “Whether I stay or not, let the people speak what they have to say.”

The BJP today staged a sizable protest in Patna and announced that they will also stage rallies in the districts. Bihar’s populace, according to state BJP leader Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal, would never forgive Nitish Kumar.
