AIMIM Chief says, “What will you do if we do not say ‘Vande Mataram?’ Will people get jobs by uttering Vande Mataram? Will farmers’ loans be forgiven? Inflation will come down?”

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government on Saturday issued a government resolution (GR) and made it mandatory for all government officials to greet with ‘Vande Mataram’ and not with ‘Hello’ while answering phone calls from citizens or other officials. After this announcement was made, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLA Waris Pathan says that the Shinde government is creating a new drama and distracting people from actual issues.

“What will you do if we do not say Vande Mataram? Will people get jobs by uttering ‘Vande Mataram?’ Will farmers’ loans be forgiven? Inflation will come down?” Waris Pathan questioned the government.

According to GR, the word ‘hello’ showcases western culture. It is a “greeting without any specific meaning and does not evoke affection.”

The stated that this would instill a sense of national pride among the people and that “hello” has no meaning.

The GR states that it is applicable even to various state events on public address systems, as it would generate a conducive environment and emit positive energy. It also said that officials should also create awareness among the people who meet them to do the same.

As part of the ongoing 75th Anniversary of Indian Independence celebrations, the rule will be adhered to by every member of the government, as well as faculty at universities, colleges, and schools, and officials at the highest levels of state administration.

Initially, this proposal was proposed by Maharashtra minister Sudhir Mungantiwar soon after he was sworn in. Later, he stepped back, saying that any equivalent word reflecting nationalism could be used.
