Mrs. Gandhi’s questioning was postponed earlier after she had tested positive for covid and had to be hospitalized, After getting discharged from the hospital in mid-June, she had sought more time to appear before the probe agency.

According to sources, Congress leaders met yesterday evening to finalize details of the protests. As Mrs. Gandhi leaves for the ED office at 11 am, AICC office bearers and members of frontal organizations will accompany her as a mark of solidarity.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has reached Sonia Gandhi’s residence ahead of her appearance before the ED. Former Congress President,  Rahul Gandhi,  is also expected to accompany her to the probe agency office.

Party MPs will join as soon as they can after parliament adjourns, State units of the congress party will also hold protests in state capitals.

“Tomorrow as the political vendetta unleashed by the Modi-Shah duo against our top leadership continues, the entire Congress party across the country will demonstrate its collective solidarity with Smt. Sonia Gandhi in a most telling manner,” congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said.

Many senior party leaders like Sachin Pilot, Harish Rawat, Randeep Surjewala, and Ashok Gehlot were detained during the protests.

Mr. Gandhi underwent questioning by the central probe agency in the same case for five days — each session lasting 10 to 12 hours. Responding to how he managed long hours of questioning consistently, Mr. Gandhi had said, “I told them I do Vipassana. You have to sit for long hours in that, you get used to it.”

The agency had also questioned senior party leader and Rajya Sabha LOP Mallikarjun Kharge and party leader Pawan Bansal concerning the case.
