While season 2 of the Korean series ‘Squid Game’ may not have begun, the show’s producer is already planning for a Squid game season 3.
Speaking to Korea Times, Hwang Dong-hyuk said, “I’m in talks with Netflix over Season 2 as well as Season 3. We will come to a conclusion any time soon.”
Dong-hyuk confirmed in November that there will be a second season of the show, revealing to the Associated Press, “So, there’s been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season, so I almost feel like you leave us no choice. But I will say there will indeed be a second season. It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently but I do think it’s too early to say when and how it’s going to happen.”
The Squid Game on Netflix was one of the most popular and contentious shows on the platform this year. Contenders are put against each other in seemingly simple contests to battle for their lives. The winner of each game advances to the next round. Those who fail to accomplish the assignment are eliminated (yes, killed).
Meanwhile, this is the first time that rumors of a Squid Game season 3 have surfaced; Hwang had previously shown interest in continuing the series.
