Star Wars hints at Rey & Kylo's Greatest Force Power (The sequels ignored)

The newest Star Wars tie-in teases the actual strength of Rey & Kylo’s Greatest Force Power, the Force Dyad. It was overlooked in the second trilogy. When Rey and Kylo Ren (aka Ben Solo) stood before Emperor Palpatine in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, their hidden relationship was finally out. They are famous as a Force dyad by the Dark Lord of the Sith. It is a phenomenon that the Sith cherishes but have not seen in years.

The Force Dyad is gradually understandable through Star Wars tie-ins. The most recent contribution coming from the book Secrets of the Sith. Its purports to be extracted from Emperor Palpatine’s notebooks. It has a section dedicated to the mythology, with a lovely depiction of the Force Dyad depicting how it appears in the Force. Although the Emperor’s information is ultimately incomplete—Rae Carson’s novelization of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker reveals Palpatine was ignorant that the competition required contestants to be strong in both the light and evil sides of the Force. His insights are noteworthy nonetheless.

They also claim that Rey and Kylo Ren have never-before-seen abilities. The Emperor confirms Rey’s Force abilities. He says, “Members of a dyad were believed to be capable of transferring their life force to heal others”. Members of a dyad have exclusive access to healing power. “Some could even pass objects through time and space in an instant. he continued. There’s a famous example of this at the end of The Rise of Skywalker. Rey effortlessly gives a lightsaber to Ben instead of killing the Emperor. But this new revelation goes much further, implying that the two may pass objects through time as well as space.

Star Wars has a reputation for being careful of time travel concepts. Some books explored the idea in the old expanded universe, such as Paul S. Kemp’s novel Crosscurrent. It featured ancient Sith transported to the present day, and the Legacy of the Force series, which featured a power called flow-walking. It could potentially rewrite history. But these were non-canon after Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012. Only Star Wars Rebels has dabbled with time travel since then, when it introduced the World Between the Worlds, a parallel universe accessible only through the Force. As witnessed when Ezra intervenes to save Ahsoka from Darth Vader, any attempt to influence the past through the World Between Worlds was already existing into the pattern of history.

To yet, the only way to enter the World Between the Worlds has been through Force Vergences at particular Jedi Temples. Force Dyad’s two members may have intuitive access to it, allowing them to move objects beyond space and time. When Ben Solo died on the Sith planet of Exegol, Rey may have lost these powers. But it’s also possible that they were intact because Ben transferred all of his life essences into her. If this is the case, future Star Wars storylines could see Rey expand on her abilities and perhaps get entry to the World Between the Worlds.
