A big relief for Congress MP Shashi Tharoor. He has been cleared by a Delhi court of charges in the case involving the death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar.

Pushkar was found dead in a five-star hotel in Delhi on the night of January 17, 2014. The couple was staying in the hotel as Tharoor’s official bungalow was being renovated at that time.

Shashi Tharoor, who was on bail in the case, was charged with abetment to suicide and cruelty by Delhi Police. Tharoor had all along denied the charges.

Tharoor was present at the virtual court hearing on Wednesday when the verdict was delivered. He thanked the judge, and said it was “an absolute torture for last seven-and-a-half-years” and that it was a “great relief”.
