Mumbai: Dissident leader Eknath Shinde renewed his criticism of the Shiv Sena leadership on Sunday, speculating as to how the party could back someone with a close relationship to Dawood Ibrahim, who was responsible for the bombings that killed innocent Mumbai residents.
He said that he and other MLAs hoisted the revolt banner in protest of such backing and that he doesn’t care about dying in order to defend Bal Thackeray’s Shiv Sena. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) minister Nawab Malik, who is incarcerated in connection with a money laundering case reportedly involving family of Dawood Ibrahim, was the subject of Shinde’s tweets from Sunday night.
Shinde’s reply also came in light to Shiv Sena MP leader Sanjay Raut who termed Shinde and the rebel camp as “bodies without souls”.
“How can Hinduhridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray’s Shiv Sena support those who have a direct connection with Dawood who killed innocent Mumbaikars by carrying out Mumbai bomb blasts? We are taking this step to oppose this; Don’t care if this step leads us to the brink of death,” Shinde tweeted in Marathi.
The senior Shiv Sena leader stated in another tweet that they would consider their deaths to be lucky if they were to save the Shiv Sena and Bal Thackeray’s philosophy.
Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut’s Twitter account was mentioned in Eknath Shinde’s tweets.
Eknath Shinde and other dissident MLAs were described earlier in the day by Sanjay Raut as “corpses without souls” that would be taken to the mortuary.
“We have learnt a lesson on whom to trust…. These are the bodies whose souls have died. Their mind is dead….40 bodies will come from Assam and will be sent directly to the morgue for post-mortem,” Sanjay Raut commented in reference to the rebel MLAs in Guwahati with Eknath Shinde while addressing Sena cadres.
