The Supreme Court launches Online link for Applications under Right to Information Act
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on its website launched online link for Application under the Right To Information (RTI) Act. The decision was announced on Thursday by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud in open court. “The RTI portal is ready and will start working in 15 minutes,” he said.
The Supreme Court turned the link on as a test on Tuesday.
The court on November 11 that it would be begin accepting of online applications for RTI and first appeals. Previously people use to deliver these documents physically to the Chief Public Information Officer, but now the documents can be submitted online.
The litigation law of students Akriti Agarwal and Lakshya Purohit appealed in the court for online link applications for RTI. These announcement was made as the court takes interest in lawsuits of students.
“In case there are any problems, you can get back to me. I will be more than happy to look into it,” said CJI Chandrachud, who is also the Chairman of the E-Committee of the Supreme Court.
