New Delhi Apr 25 PTI The Students Federation of India SFI staged a protest against the Ambedkar University AUD administration here on Monday for allegedly disrupting its peace march last weekIn a statement the SFI said the march to the vice-chancellors office was organised to demand to talk to her about the administrations actionsRepresentatives of the university administration told the members of the Left-affiliated students body that the VC was out of station due to official engagementsWe unconditionally condemn the irresponsible behaviour of the AUD administration They are very conveniently unavailable whenever the students demand any form of justice for their own university The registrar and the proctor will be held responsible for their actions and our struggle will continue till that happens said Anil the president of the SFI AUD Kashmere Gate unitFollowing the protest staged by the SFI on Monday the VC office has promised to meet the students by ThursdayThe SFI and other student organisations have decided that the issue will be escalated to the chief ministers office if it is not resolved by Thursday a member of the Left-affiliated students body saidOn disrupting the peace march last week the university in a statement had said it respects the right of the students over their campus and is also not against a peace or protest marchHowever there were reports that outsiders may be present in the march and cause disturbance in the university and also interrupt classes During the march it was observed that outsiders were present on the campus and were engaged in sloganeering Therefore as a preventive measure the sloganeering and the march had to be discontinued The present circumstances do not warrant that the university takes any risk the statement had said PTI SLB RC

New Delhi Apr 22 PTI The Students Federation of India SFI on Friday accused the Ambedkar University administration of disrupting a peace march organised to express solidarity with the victims of the violence in Delhis JahangirpuriThe university however said it is not against any peace or protest march but the SFIs march and sloganeering had to be discontinued as a preventive measure after observing outsiders present at the event in the campusThe SFI unit of Ambedkar University said it had given a call for a peace march following incidents of communal violence in the nation and against the BJP-ruled North Delhi Municipal Corporations anti-encroachment drive to destabilize the socio-economic prowess of the minority in Jahangipuri Students were prepared for a peaceful march outside the CR Area and were singing songs when the registrar proctor and the security officer of Ambedkar University aggressively disrupted the march by pushing around students and tearing the posters and placards it allegedThe members of the administration brought a horde of security guards and erected barricades to stop the peaceful march organized by SFI and students of the university it saidThe university in a statement said it respects the right of students over their campus and is also not against peace or protest march However there were reports that outsiders may be present in the march and cause disturbance in the university and also interrupt classes it said During the march it was observed that outsiders were present on the campus and were engaged in sloganeering Therefore as a preventive measure the sloganeering and the march had to be discontinued The present circumstances do not warrant that the university takes any risk the statement said PTI SLB NSD NSD

New Delhi Feb 22 PTI Students of the College of Art COA have demanded the cessation of merger of the institute with the Delhi government-run Ambedkar University and accused the COA authorities of betrayal The students have also alleged that the college authorities have speeded up the file for de-affiliation of the college from Delhi University and its merger with Ambedkar University There was no immediate response from the COA management The demands of students were mentioned in a manifesto issued by the students community of the College of Art The decision was taken in March last year Delhi University was informed that the Office of the Lieutenant Governor has in principle approved the merger of the College of Art COA subject to its de-affiliation from the university DU has not yet approved the de-affiliation A section of students from the College of Art on Saturday also staged a protest near Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwals residence over the institutes merger with Ambedkar University We the students of COA demand a serious inquiry on the degrees and marksheets of certain professors We demand to expunge the idea of de-affiliation of COA from DU and cessation of the process of the merger of COA with AUD immediately and permanently for the imminent present and infinite future the manifesto read If only the merger is so compelling then we want merger with DU Also we humbly request you to begin the process of detained admission for the session of 2021-22 immediately and positively it added Not only students but the Delhi University Teachers Association also registered its protest against the merger saying that the College of Art was de-affiliated from DU and merged without consulting stakeholders and without due processes PTI VA GJS AAR

New Delhi Aug 30 PTI Implementation of the National Education Policy a four-year undergraduate programme and merger of College of Arts with the city government-run Ambedkar University will come up for discussion during the Delhi University executive council meeting on Tuesday according to the agenda documentThe implementation of the National Education Policy from 2022-23 and the four-year undergraduate programme were approved by the Standing Committee on Academic Matters and the Academic Council last weekThey will come up for discussion in the meeting on Tuesday and are likely to be approvedThe Executive Council EC is the highest decision making body of the university The EC meeting takes up the proposals approved by the Academic Council and also some other matters that were pending from earlier meetingsThe Delhi Cabinet in March took the decision to merge the College of Art currently affiliated to Delhi University DU with Ambedkar University Delhi AUDThe matter of de-affiliation of the College of Arts with DU will be discussed in the meeting according to the agenda of the meeting circulated among the EC membersThe setting up of DU Digital Infrastructure Support for Colleges and Departments DUDISCAD is also a part of the EC meetings agenda the agenda readThe DUDISCD will be involved in assisting colleges and departments to develop in-house digital infrastructureThe university had earlier also said it will establish facilitation centres in Roshanpura in Najafgarh and Bhati Kalan in Fatehpur Beri on the land given by the Delhi governmentThe centres will save students residing in far-flung areas from a long commute to the university campus and will extend help in relation to examination and admission-related proceduresThe university also has plans to set up a college in Fatehpur Beri for which the names of first woman chief minister of Delhi Sushma Swaraj Swami Vivekananda Veer Savarkar and Sardar Patel were proposed In its meeting held on Tuesday last week the academic council put forth five more names including that of DU alumnus Arun Jaitley and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari VajpayeeThe Council resolved that the name of these collegescenters may be given after the names of Sushma Swaraj Swami Vivekananda Veer Savarkar Sardar Patel The Council also suggested the names of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Savitri Bai Phule Arun Jaitley Choudhary Brahm Prakash and CD Deshmukh After general discussionsuggestions the Council resolved that the vice-chancellor be authorised to finalize the name read the agenda of the meetingThe vice-chancellor had constituted a committee forempanelment of Adjunct Faculty in the university departments and colleges for value addition andinternationalization of the academic activities to engage the international adjunct faculty from theirown resources to significantly enhance the teaching-learning Process in the University of DelhiThe discussion on appointment of international adjunct faculty is also included in the meeting agenda on TuesdayPTI SLB TDS TDS
