New Delhi Apr 21 PTI Seven electoral trusts received a total amount of Rs 25849 crore from corporates and individuals and the BJP bagged more than 82 per cent of it poll rights body ADR said Electoral trust is a non-profit organisation formed in India for orderly receiving of contributions from corporate entities and individuals to political parties It aims at improving transparency in the usage of funds for election-related expenses The Association for Democratic Reforms ADR in a new report said 16 out of the 23 electoral trusts submitted details of their contribution for the financial year 2020-21 to the Election Commission of India of which only seven declared to have received donations Seven electoral trusts which have declared receiving contributions during FY 2020-21 have received a total amount of Rs 2584915 crore from corporates and individuals and distributed Rs 2584301 cr 9998 per cent to various political parties it said The BJP received Rs 21205 crore or 8205 per cent of these donations while the JDU secured Rs 27 crore or 1045 per cent of the amount Ten other political parties -- Congress NCP AIADMK DMK RJD AAP LJP CPM CPI and the Loktantrik Janta Dal together received Rs 1938 crore According to the rules formulated by the central government electoral trusts are required to distribute at least 95 per cent of the total contributions received during the financial year along with the surplus brought forward from the previous financial year to eligible political parties before March 31 The ADR report analyses the details of donors of seven electoral trusts formed after January 2013 and the contributions made through them to political parties during a given year Of the 23 registered electoral trusts 14 have been submitting copies of their contributions to the Election Commission consistently Another eight trusts declared that they did not receive any contribution or their contribution reports have never been available on the ECI website since their registration About 159 individuals have contributed to electoral trusts in FY 2020-21 Two individuals contributed Rs 350 crore to Prudent Electoral Trust 153 people contributed Rs 3202 crore to Small Donations Electoral Trust three individuals gave a total of Rs 5 lakh to Einzigartig Electoral Trust and one person contributed Rs 1100 to Independent Electoral Trust the ADR said PTI UZM UZM CJ CJ

New Delhi Mar 26 PTI Of the 45 newly sworn-in Uttar Pradesh ministers 22 have declared criminal cases against themselves and most of them face serious charges poll rights body ADR said on Saturday Uttar Pradesh Election Watch and the Association for Democratic Reforms ADR have analysed the self-sworn affidavits of 45 of the total 53 ministers including the chief minister The affidavits of Sanjay Nishad and Jitin Prasada were unavailable for analysis on the election commissions website at the time of bringing out this report while details of ministers JPS Rathore Narendra Kashyap Dinesh Pratap Singh Dayashankar Mishra Dayalu Jaswant Saini and Danish Azad Ansari were not analysed as they are currently not members of either the state assembly or the legislative council According to the ADR report 22 49 per cent ministers have declared criminal cases against themselves and 20 44 per cent ministers have declared serious criminal cases against themselves Of the 45 ministers analysed 39 87 per cent are crorepatis and their average assets are pegged at Rs 9 crore As per his affidavit Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh from Tiloi constituency owns the highest declared total assets worth Rs 5807 crore and Dharamveer Singh an MLC at Rs 4291 lakh is the minister with the lowest declared total assets Twenty seven ministers have declared liabilities Rakesh Sachan of Bhognipur constituency has liabilities to the tune of Rs 817 crore the highest among the ministers the report said It said nine 20 per cent ministers have declared their educational qualification to be between Classes 8 to 12 while 36 80 per cent ministers are graduates and beyond Twenty 44 per cent ministers have declared their age to be between 30 and 50 years while 25 56 per cent ministers stated that they were between 51 and 70 years old Of the 45 ministers analysed five 11 per cent are women PTI UZM CJ CJ

New Delhi Aug 23 PTI A total of 363 MPs and MLAs face criminal charges that in case of conviction will lead to their disqualification under the Representation of People Act poll rights group Association for Democratic Reforms ADR said Thirty-nine ministers at the Centre and in states have also declared criminal offences that are included in Section 8 of the Representation of People Act on disqualification Sub-sections 1 2 and 3 of Section 8 of the Act provide that a person convicted of an offence mentioned in any of these sub-sections shall stand disqualified from the date of conviction and shall continue to be disqualified for a further period of six years since hisher release The Association for Democratic Reforms ADR and the National Election Watch have analysed the affidavits of 542 Lok Sabha members and 1953 MLAs from 2019 to 2021 Out of the 2495 MPsMLAs 363 15 per cent have declared that charges have been framed against them by courts for offences listed in the Act Among them 296 are MLAs and 67 are MPs Among parties the BJP has the highest number of such MPsMLAs at 83 followed by the Congress 47 and TMC 25 the ADR said Twenty-four sitting Lok Sabha members have a total of 43 criminal cases pending against them and 111 sitting MLAs have a total of 315 criminal cases pending against them for 10 years or more The offences listed under Section 8 1 2 3 are seriousgraveheinous in nature Bihar has 54 MLAs who are facing such serious criminal cases followed by Kerala 42 There are four union ministers and 35 ministers in states who have declared criminal cases listed in the Act the ADR said in its new report PTI UZM SMN SMN
