Aurangabad Dec 23 PTI The Aurangabad civic body in Maharashtra has shut one of the city-based schools for a few days after its teacher from the primary section tested positive for coronavirus an official said on Thursday The teacher from the primary section of Saraswati Bhuwan School tested positive for the infection on December 21 Hence as a precautionary measure it was decided that the school shall remain shut till Monday December 27 the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation AMC official said The teacher has mild symptoms and is home-quarantined The RT-PCR test of those who came in his contact were conducted by the administration As a precautionary measure we have shut the school till Monday AMCs deputy commissioner Santosh Tengle told PTI Education officer Ramnath Thode said We have collected over 300 swabs from the school The reports are awaited now PTI AW NP NP

Aurangabad Dec 23 PTI An action plan for Aurangabad in Maharashtra will be formulated by 2023 to prepare the city to handle climate risks and vulnerabilities and one of the programmes key components will be reduction in emission of greenhouse gases civic officials said on ThursdayThe Aurangabad Municipal Corporation AMC and the Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation ASCDCL have hired World Resources Institute India WRI to prepare the citys climate action planA letter of intent LoI in this regard was signed on Wednesday an official release saidAstik Kumar Pandey Municipal Commissioner and Administrator and CEO of Aurangabad Smart City had an online discussion with WRI representatives During the discussion WRIs Lubaina Rangwala said Heavy rainfall rising temperatures desertification droughts and landslides were all caused by climate change A timely planned programme is needed to prepare the city for the climate risks and vulnerabilities And this is why WRI wants to create a climate action plan for the city of Aurangabad Rangwala saidThe climate action plan of Aurangabad will have two main parts The first is reducing emission of greenhouse gases or critical pollutants and the second is to enhancing city and community capacities to cope with climate change the release saidAccording to the agreement WRI will provide a 30-year action plan for the city by 2023 in five phases an official saidCommissioner Pandey said the corporation would set up a dedicated climate change cell under a deputy commissioner-level official PTI AW RSY RSY

Aurangabad Aug 25 PTI The civic body in Maharashtras Aurangabad has directed the airport authority here to share details about people travelling to the city from Afghanistan to administer polio vaccines to them as a preventive measure an official said on Wednesday The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation AMC has written to the airport authorities instructing them to share names addresses and contact details of people travelling from Afghanistan on a daily basis the official said People have started migrating from Afghanistan and even Indians working in the country are returning to India following the Taliban take over earlier this month Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only two countries in the world where polio is still endemic We have heard that nearly 400 travellers have come to India from Afghanistan However we dont know where they will travel further If they come to Aurangabad in connecting flights there is a chance that they may skip vaccination Hence we have sought details of travellers coming from Afghanistan civic health officer Dr Neeta Padalkar said Polio vaccines will be administered orally and also through injections to all travellers she added PTI AW ARU ARU
