Mumbai Nov 23 PTI In light of the rise in COVID-19 cases in Europe several medical practitioners in Maharashtra have suggested that a booster dose of the vaccine against coronavirus should be administered to healthcare and frontline workers Talking to PTI Dr Gautam Bhansali consultant physician of Bombay Hospital said the count of antibodies in people who have completed their vaccination some six to eight months ago is declining The count of antibodies in people who have taken the second dose of vaccine some six to eight months ago is going down We should administer a third dose or booster dose of vaccine to healthcare and frontline workers as they are more vulnerable to the infection Dr Bhansali said People with co-morbid conditions also face similar challenges and should be considered for the booster dose he said European countries are already facing another round COVID-19 cases As we have introduced more relaxations we should be ready to face a similar wave of infections somewhere in February or March 2022 he said Instead of reacting in panic we should be prepared for the third wave in India It is established that vaccine doses help increase immunity against the severity of the infection It will be good if we think of a booster dose now Dr Bhansali said Speaking in a similar vein a member of the Maharashtra State COVID-19 task force said Vaccine doses are available and we should utilise them to make our lives safer The issue of vaccine hesitancy is being addressed by the Central and the state governments Concentrated efforts should be made to keep fresh infections in check he said One way to achieve this is by administering a third dose of the vaccine to people engaged in healthcare services and government officials Such a measure will help keep a check on the spread of infection another doctor said PTI ND ARU ARU ARU

Mumbai Oct 29 PTI The rupee surged 15 paise to 7477 against the US dollar in opening trade on Friday on expectation of better inflows into high profile initial public offerings IPOs At the interbank foreign exchange the rupee opened strong at 7478 against the dollar and inched further to 7477 in early deals a rise of 15 paise over its previous close On Wednesday the rupee had settled at 7492 against the US dollar Meanwhile the dollar index which gauges the greenbacks strength against a basket of six currencies rose 008 per cent to 9341 Global oil benchmark Brent crude futures rose 023 per cent to USD 8451 per barrel On the domestic equity market front BSE Sensex was trading 272 points higher at 5998742 while the broader NSE Nifty advanced 950 points or 005 per cent to 1786675 Foreign institutional investors were net sellers in the capital market Thursday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 381851 crore as per exchange data According to Anil Kumar Bhansali Head of Treasury Finrex Treasury Advisors rupee moving in a range of 7470 - 7520 The US data was lower than expectation yesterday with GDP coming at 2 per cent against expectation of 27 per cent Rupee is likely to remain in 74607500 range as NYKKA and Policy Bazaar inflows hit the market Exporters to sell only near to 7500 and importers to buy near 7470 for their near term exposures Bhansali said PTI DRR ANS ANS

Mumbai Oct 21 PTI The Indian rupee inched higher by 3 paise to 7485 against the US dollar in opening trade on Thursday At the interbank foreign exchange the rupee opened at 7486 against the dollar then inched higher to 7485 registering a rise of just 3 paise over its previous close The rupee on Wednesday had surged by 47 paise to close at a nearly two-week high of 7488 against the US dollar Meanwhile the dollar index which gauges the greenbacks strength against a basket of six currencies rose 001 per cent to 9356 According to Anil Kumar Bhansali Head of Treasury Finrex Treasury Advisors a higher oil price is not allowing the pair to come to lower levels For the day 7460 to 7500 should hold with an opening at 7490 Bhansali further noted that the oil companies may step in to buy dollars Importers to hedge their near term while exporters may await for higher levels to sell he said Foreign institutional investors were net sellers in the capital market on Wednesday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 184309 crore as per exchange data On the domestic equity market front BSE Sensex was trading 12252 points or 020 per cent lower at 6113744 while the broader NSE Nifty declined 15 points or 008 per cent to 1825160 Global oil benchmark Brent crude futures fell 022 per cent to USD 8563 per barrel PTI DRR ANS ANS

Mumbai Sep 30 PTI The Indian rupee depreciated 22 paise to 7436 against the US dollar in opening trade on Thursday amid a muted trend in domestic equities At the interbank foreign exchange the rupee opened on a weak note at 7428 then fell further to 7436 against the dollar registering a decline of 22 paise from the last close In the previous session on Wednesday the rupee had settled at 7414 against the US dollar Meanwhile the dollar index which gauges the greenbacks strength against a basket of six currencies fell 005 per cent to 9429 As the shortage of certain commodities affect the US the UK and China its effects can be seen on emerging market currencies and to some extent on equities said Anil Kumar Bhansali Head of Treasury Finrex Treasury Advisors Bhansali further said that the US dollar spiked up by 60 paise in two days and the rupee still looks vulnerable to the vagaries Foreign institutional investors were net sellers in the capital market on Wednesday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 189602 crore as per exchange data On the domestic equity market front the 30-share Sensex was trading 4918 points or 008 per cent lower at 5936409 The broader NSE Nifty was trading 2085 points or 012 per cent down at 1769045 Global oil benchmark Brent crude futures declined 034 per cent to USD 7837 per barrel PTI DRR ANS ANS
