Mumbai Feb 23 PTI Two brothers allegedly bashed up a man following an argument with him over playing the game of Ludo on Wednesday when the three of them were travelling in a suburban train in Mumbai a police official said The incident occurred in a Churchgate-bound local train around 1130 am he said The trio was playing Ludo game on a mobile phone During the game one of them nudged another player with his elbow which triggered an argument between them The twin brothers then started bashing up the fellow passenger the official of Borivali Government Railway Police GRP said Someone from the compartment shot a video of the incident and circulated it on social media During the probe Borivali police found that all the three passengers involved in the incident are residents of Nalasopara and Bhayandar areas located in the Mumbai metropolitan region They were travelling from Bhayandar to Churchgate he said The Borivali GRP has established their identity and an FIR under section 160 punishment for committing affray has been registered against them the official said adding that no arrest has been made so far in this connection PTI ZA NP NP

Thane Jan 24 PTI A 36-year-old married man from Bhayandar in Thane district of Maharashtra was forced to pay the ransom of over Rs 6 lakh after he was held captive by a woman who had befriended him through a dating app and her associates police said on Monday An FIR was registered at the Shree Nagar police station on charges of extortion robbery and other sections of the Indian Penal Code IPC after the victim approached the police this morning but no arrest is made so An officer said the victim who manufactures and sells furniture had come in contact with a woman last July through a dating service app- Quack Quack The woman invited him to Thane city and when he arrived at the scheduled location in the Shree Nagar area she took him to her house the officer said quoting the FIR The man was held captive in her house by the woman and other accused-one of them a woman- who thrashed him and demanded Rs 10 lakh for releasing him They threatened the victim to defame him if he fails to pay up They snatched credit cards of the victim and his wife and withdrew Rs 632100 before allowing him to go the officer said adding that further investigation is underway PTI COR NSK NSK

Thane Oct 23 PTI Central Goods and Services Tax CGST officials arrested one person from Bhayandar in Thane district of Maharashtra for the input tax credit fraud to the tune of Rs 9068 crore an official release said In a major drive initiated against fraudsters who are availing and utilising fake Input Tax Credit ITC the Thane Central GST Commissionerate Mumbai CGST Zone has arrested a mastermind who had opened a firm and was operating from Bhayandar west said the release issued by Rajan Chaudhary CGST and Central Excise Commissioner Thane The accused indulged in the fraudulent availment and utilisation of the ITC to the tune of Rs 9068 crore without receiving the goods or services in violation of the provisions of the CGST Act 2017 it said His firm was dealing in trading of asbestos cotton yarn sewing thread etc and had fraudulently taken the ITC by showing the value of goods amounting to Rs 50380 crore This was a paper transaction only without actual supply of goods and without filing of E-way bills the release said The accused was remanded to judicial custody till November 5 by a court in Thane In separate cases two firms operating in the Bhayandar area who were also involved in the activity of fraudulently availing and passing on the Input Tax Credit amounting to Rs 292 crore have been booked These firms were not active and their registrations had been cancelled Efforts are on to nab the masterminds in these cases also the release said PTI COR NSK NSK
