Indore Feb 19 PTI Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said cow dung will be procured from farmers for use in the Rs 150 crore bio-CNG plant in Indore that was inaugurated on Saturday through online mode by Prime Minister Narendra Modi Addressing the event in which the PM commissioned the 550-tonne processing capacity plant located on a 15-acre plot in Devguradia trenching yard Chouhan said cow dung along with wet waste will be used to grow bacteria for bio-CNG production Naming it Gobar-Dhan plant has a meaning We will procure cow dung from farmers around Indore for use in the bio-CNG plant This facility will reduce 130 lakh tonnes of carbon emissions every year he said Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri also addressed the programme through video conferencing According to officials the plant can generate 17000 to 18000 tonnes of bio-CNG per day using 550 tonnes of wet waste generated by the city which in turn can fuel 400 buses It will also create 100 tonnes of organic manure every day PTI HWP ADU BNM BNM BNM
Indore Feb 19 PTI Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the government is making efforts to free thousands of acres of land in the countrys urban areas from piles of garbage which was being dumped there for decades and convert these places into green zones in the next couple of years He said the garbage disposal capacity of the urban areas in the country has increased by four times since 2014 Batting for the use of bio-fuels to reduce Indias dependence on other countries for petroleum products he said that ethanol blending in petrol which used to be only about two per cent eight years back has now grown to around eight per cent Modi was speaking after virtually inaugurating the Rs 150 crore 550-tonne capacity gobar-dhan Bio-CNG plant which is based on the concept of waste-to-wealth innovation in Indore city of Madhya Pradesh Lakhs of tonnes of garbage stood on thousands of acres of land for decades in cities across the country which is a major reason for the spread of diseases as it caused air and water pollution Modi said Therefore in the second phase of the Swachh Bharat Mission the government is making efforts to free such lands of the piles of garbage he said The aim is that our cities should get rid of these piles of garbage in the coming two-three years and such places can be converted into green zones The state governments are being provided all possible help to achieve this aim he said Modi said the material recovery facilities are being developed in more than 1600 civic bodies to get rid of single-use plastic Our efforts are on to develop such arrangements in every city of the country to give a boost to circular economy he added The prime minister said that cleanliness boosts tourism as every city of the country has historical and religious places If cities are clean people from other places will prefer to visit Cleanliness boosts tourism and it kickstarts a new economy he said adding that people visit Indore only to see the arrangements done for the purpose of cleanliness In the coming two years work is being done on setting up such gobar-dhan Bio CNG Plants in 75 big municipal bodies of the country he said This campaign will hugely help in being installed in the rural parts and the stock breeders are getting additional income through cow dung All these efforts will help India achieve the climate commitments he said He said that facilities for sewage water treatment are being increased in those civic bodies where less than one lakh population reside India doesnt own oil wells and is dependent on other countries for the petroleum products Ethanol blending in petrol used to be only 1 per cent to 2 per cent 7 to 8 years ago in India which is now reaching around 8 per cent he said Before 2014 the ethanol supply for blending was around 40-crore litres which has now gone up to 300-crore litres This has helped the sugar cane mills and farmers Modi said The pre-2014 governments were indifferent towards the solar power generation he alleged But our government has launched a drive to increase solar power generation after 2014 This has resulted in India ranking among the top five countries in the world as far as solar power generation is concerned he said The PM said that farmers are now becoming solar power providers Praising the residents of Indore he said they segregate garbage in six segments for the New Delhi Feb 18 PTI Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a Bio-CNG plant in Madhya Pradeshs Indore on Saturday via video conferencing his office said The prime minister recently launched the Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 20 with the overall vision of creating Garbage Free Cities the Prime Ministers Office PMO said The Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 20 is being implemented under the overarching principles of waste to wealth and circular economy for maximising resource recovery -- both of which are exemplified in the Indore Bio-CNG plant The plant to be inaugurated by PM Modi at 1 PM on Saturday has a capacity to treat 550 tonnes per day of segregated wet organic waste the statement said It is expected to produce around 17000 kg of CNG and 100 tonnes of organic compost per day The plant is based on zero landfill models whereby no rejects would be generated the statement said Additionally the project is expected to yield multiple environmental benefits viz reduction in greenhouse gas emissions providing green energy along with organic compost as fertilizer it said Indore Clean Energy Pvt Ltd a Special Purpose Vehicle created to implement the project was set up by Indore Municipal Corporation IMC and Indo Enviro Integrated Solutions Ltd IEISL under a Public Private Partnership model with 100 per cent capital investment of Rs 150 crore by IEISL Indore Municipal Corporation will purchase a minimum 50 per cent of CNG produced by the plant and in a first-of-its-kind initiative run 400 city buses using it The balance quantity of CNG will be sold in the open market The organic compost will help replace chemical fertilisers for agricultural and horticultural purposes the statement said PTI ASK SMN SMN

Indore Nov 17 PTI Nearly 300 city buses will run on Bio-CNG produced at a wet waste management plant in Madhya Pradeshs Indore city an official said on Wednesday The 550-tonne per day capacity plant was set up in the city with public participation and will become functional soon the official said This is a first-of-its kind plant in the country which is based on the concept of earning from waste and is a classic example of the circular economy Indore Municipal Corporation IMC commissioner Pratibha Pal told reporters Indore BJP Lok Sabha MP Shankar Lalwani and Pal inspected the plant and hoped that the production of Bio-CNG will soon begin at the facility Bio-CNG and a small quantity of compost manure will be produced every day with 550 tonne wet waste she said Nearly 300 city buses will run on the Bio-CNG produced at the plant which will not only conserve the environment but also bring down the fuel cost Pal said The plant is established by a private company which will pay an annual premium of more than Rs 15 crore to the civic body for the supply of wet waste she said As per the agreement the company will supply Bio-CNG to the IMC at Rs 5 less than the market rate Pal said According to a rough estimate nearly 1200 tonnes of waste including 600 wet and 600 dry waste is disposed of in the city which has an estimated population of 35 lakh In the last four Swacchta surveys of the Central government Indore has remained on top and the city is expecting to retain its position when the result of the 2021 survey is announced on November 20 PTI HWP MAS ARU ARU
