New Delhi Jan 27 PTI The South Delhi Municipal Corporation SDMC is likely to table a revised proposal to develop a Bollywood Park through scrap materials in the Jangpura area of the city in its standing committee meeting on Friday officials said on Thursday According to the officials the Bollywood Park will be constructed on the lines of SDMCs popular Waste to Wonder Park and Bharat Darshan Park where the history of Indian cinema will be showcased through various artefacts and sculptures made out of waste material On Thursday the SDMCs house meeting rejected the earlier proposal where project was proposed to be built on the Public Private Partnership PPP mode We will built the Bollywood Park on our own and not on PPP basis So a revised proposal to develop the Bollywood Park is likely to be tabled tomorrow Friday in the civic bodys standing committee meeting SDMC Mayor Mukesh Suryan told PTI An official of the SDMC said the theme park will be built in an old park in Jangpura with an area of five acres The park will depict history and evolution of Indian cinema right from the first film made in the country It will also have scenes of popular movies songs cut-outs of actors etc the official said requesting anonymity All the replicas related to Indian cinema in the park will be made through scrap materials like iron rods nuts and bolts fans wires pipes among others the official said The SDMC had last year inaugurated its Bharat Darshan Park in Punjabi Bagh where replicas of monuments of historical and cultural importance have been erected All those replicas are made of scrap materials PTI AKM AQS AQS

New Delhi Nov 23 PTI Civic authorities have set the ball rolling to set up a park themed on the history of Indian cinema in south Delhi and another park which will depict the freedom struggle of the countrySDMCCommissioner Gyanesh Bharati while presentingrevisedbudgetestimates for 2021-22 andbudgetestimates for 2022-23 at the Civic Centre here on Tuesday said to mark the occasion of 75th year of Indias Independence Shaheedi Park and Bollywood Park are to be developed on the lines of the Bharat Darshan ParkBoth these parks will be developed using the concept of waste-to-wealth the budget saidSpread over eight acres replicas of about 20 monuments including Qutab Minar Taj Mahal Charminar Gateway of India Konark Temple Nalanda ruins Mysore Palace Meenakshi Temple Hampi Victoria Memorial Hall Sanchi Stupa Gol Gumbaz Ajanta and Ellora Caves Hawa Mahal are to be installed at the upcoming Bharat DarshanPark in Punjabi BaghThese replicas have been built with scrap and waste materials like dumped vehicles fans iron rods nuts and bolts lying unused or abandoned at SDMC stores Officials on Tuesday said the Bharat Darshan Park is expected to be inaugurated in the next few weeks Work on both the Bollywood Park and Shaheedi Park is in advance stages of conception The latter will be special as it being developed in our old park about 5 acres near ITO to mark 75th year of our Independence and Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav The other park that will depict the history of Indian cinema through various artefacts and exhibits will come up in an old park in Jungpura spread over eight acres a senior SDMC official said The Bollywood Park is planned to be developed on a PPP public private partnership model he said adding history of Indian cinema going as far back as the first film from the country Raja Harishchandra of 1913 will be depicted in an interesting wayThe Waste-to-WonderPark in Sarai Kale Khan area was opened in February 2019 It has replicas of seven world famous monuments including Taj Mahal and Eiffel Tower fashioned out of mechanical wasteDelhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal in February 2020 had termed the park as a shining example of waste-to-wealth concept and said the SDMC should develop more parks which are self-sustained and based on this conceptSouth Delhi Mayor Mukesh Suryan had in October said that the BharatDarshanPark project was delayed for some time due to the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing lockdowns but work is now going on in full swing PTI KND RHL

SDMC proposes increase in property tax to boost revenue

New Delhi Nov 23 PTI Seeking to augment its revenue the South Delhi Municipal Corporation SDMC on Tuesday proposed in its budget to increase property tax levied on residential and commercial properties and reduce the number of rate slabs from threeResidential commercial and non-residential plots of up to 150 sqm are currently divided into three categories in the city -- A-B C-E and F-H categoriesI propose that for the financial year 2022-23 the number of categories should be reduced from three to two A-E and F-H in this category said SDMC Commissioner Gyanesh Bharati while presenting revised budget estimates for 2021-22 and budget estimates for 2022-23 at the Civic Centre hereThe budget has proposed increase in property tax as follows 14 per cent tax in for residential properties in A-E category and 12 per cent in F-H category Presently 15 per cent tax is charged in A-B category 11 per cent in C-E category and seven per cent in F-H category a senior official saidSimilar for commercial category in A-D category it is proposed to be 15 per cent and 12 per cent in E-H category and for special category it is 20 per cent the official saidThe current rates are 15 per cent tax in A-B category 12 per cent in C-E category and ten per cent in F-H category the official saidBharati said that property tax rates in A through E slabs have not been raised in the last 10 yearsThe commissioner also said that to mark the occasion of 75th year of Indias Independence Shaheedi Park and Bollywood Park are to be developed on the lines of the Bharat Darshan ParkThe budget comes ahead of civic polls due next yearLater the commissioner also took questions from reportersAsked if the proposal to increase property tax is not approved by the legislative wing of the corporation how will it meet the revenue requirements Bharati said We will then have to go for the PPP modelAccording to the budget SDMC has been disposing of 51 lakh metric tonne legacy waste and is likely to dispose of 100 per cent legacy waste by December 2023Our Swachh rank will improve once we do 100 per cent waste collection segregation and processing he told reporters PTI KND ANB ANB
