New Delhi Nov 19PTI In view of the alarming levels of air pollution the Transport department of the Delhi government has asked motorists to get colour-coded fuel stickers for their vehicles The display of chromium-based hologram stickers on all vehicles registered in NCT of Delhi are mandatory as per a Supreme Court order and the Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989 said a notice issued by the department on Friday The owners of old vehicles are advised to approach dealers concerned for affixing Chromium based hologram stickers on the windshield of their vehicles depending on the relevant class of fuel it said The colour-coded stickers help enforcement personnel visibly identify fuel type of a vehicle during checks on the roads Vehicles registered prior to April 2019 did not come with these stickers -- blue for petrol or CNG and orange for diesel vehicles According to the rules owners of vehicles without sticker are liable to be slapped with a fine of Rs 10000 compoundable to Rs 5500 for the offence We are only increasing awareness about these stickers and no enforcement drive is planned in near future said a Transport department officer The stickers also contain details like the registration number registering authority a laser-branded PIN and the engine and chassis numbers of the vehicles PTI VIT VN VN

New Delhi Oct 17 PTI Mandating the Pollution Under Control Certificate PUCC for vehicles in view of rising pollution levels in winter the Delhi Transport department has requested motorists to show the document to its teams deployed at fuel stations in the cityThe department has launched a massive enforcement drive against vehicles that do not have a valid PUC Certificate said a notice issued by the Pollution Control Division of the department All the registered vehicle owners are requested to show their validly issued PUC Certificates while refuelling at fuel stations it saidTransport department officials said nearly 50 teams will be deployed randomly at fuel stations across the cityThe teams will mainly check PUC Certificates of vehicles and ask motorists to get one if they do not have it alreadyThe focus will be on encouraging vehicle owners not having a PUCC to get it rather than penalising themHowever those declining to do so or trying to speed away may be challaned said a senior transport officerVehicle owners who fail to get a valid PUCC are liable to be challaned under Section 1902 of the Motor Vehicle Act 1993 leading to imprisonment of up to six months or fine up to Rs 10000 or bothThey could also lose their driving licence for three months said the noticeChief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had earlier this month announced a 10-point winter action plan that included strict enforcement of PUCC with the formation of 500 teams to check the vehiclesVehicles are periodically tested for their emission standards for pollutants like carbon monoxide carbon dioxide and others after which they are given the PUC certificatesThere are around 1000 pollution checking centres authorised by the Transport department in Delhi These are set up at petrol pumps and workshops spread all over the city for easy access by motoristsThese centres conduct pollution checks and issue PUC Certificates to vehicles complying with prescribed pollution normsPUC certification has been made real-time and integrated with the vehicle registration databaseThe fee for pollution checking in case of petrol and CNG-driven two and three-wheelers is Rs 60It is Rs 80 for four-wheelers while the fee for diesel vehicles is Rs 100 for such checksAccording to the Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989 every motor vehicle including those conforming to BS-I BS-II BS-IIIBS-IV as well as vehicles plying on CNGLPG is required to carry a valid PUC Certificate after the expiry of period of one year from the date of its first registrationHowever the validity of four-wheeled BS-IV compliant vehicles is one year and for other vehicles it is three months PTI VIT VN KJ

New Delhi Sep 19 PTI Ahead of the winter when the pollution level is likely to rise in the nation capital the transport department of the Delhi government has asked vehicle owners to carry valid pollution under control PUC certificates to avoid punitive actions including suspension of driving licence for three months If caught without a valid PUC certificate vehicle owners may face imprisonment up to six months or fine up to Rs 10000 or both They will also be disqualified to hold their driving licence for three months stated a public notice issued by the transport department on Sunday The Transport department Government of NCT of Delhi in its ongoing efforts to control pollution and improve air quality in Delhi requests all motor vehicle owners in Delhi to ply their vehicles ony with valid pollution under control certificate it said Vehicles are periodically tested for their emission standards for various pollutants such as carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide after which they are given PUC certificates All registered vehicle owners are requested to get their vehicles checked from the pollution checking centres authorised by Transport department to avoid any penalty imprisonment suspension of driving licence stated the public notice There are over 900pollution checking centres authorised by the transport department in Delhi These are set up at petrol pumps and workshops spread all over the city so motorists can get it done easily The centres conduct pollution checking facilities and issue PUC certificate to vehicles complying with prescribed pollution norms PUC certification has been made real time and integrated with the vehicle registration database This has improved credibility of PUC certification by reducing human intervention and helps in identifying polluting vehicles for necessary punitive action The fee for pollution checking in case of petrol and CNG driven two and three wheelers is Rs 60 It is Rs 80 for four-wheeled vehicles The fee for pollution checking certificate of diesel vehicles is Rs 100 According to Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989 every motor vehicle including those conforming to BS-I BS-II BS-IIIBS-IV as well as vehicles plying on CNGLPG is required to carry a valid PUC Certificate after the expiry of period of one year from the date of its first registration However the validity of four-wheeled BS-IV compliant vehicles is one year and for other vehicles it is three months PTI VIT SMN SMN
