New Delhi Apr 18 PTI The wholesale price-based inflation rose to a four-month high of 1455 per cent in March mainly due to hardening of crude oil and commodity prices even though vegetables witnessed easing of price pressures As per the government data released on Monday WPI inflation has remained in double digits for the 12th consecutive month beginning April 2021 The last time such a level of WPI was recorded was in November 2021 when inflation was 1487 per cent WPI Inflation in February was at 1311 per cent while in March last year it was 789 per cent During the month inflation in food articles eased to 806 per cent from 819 per cent in February Vegetable inflation was 1988 per cent against 2693 per cent in February The high rate of inflation in March 2022 is primarily due to rise in prices of crude petroleum and natural gas mineral oils basic metals etc owing to disruption in the global supply chain caused by the Russia-Ukraine conflict the Commerce and Industry Ministry said in a statement Inflation in manufactured items was 1071 per cent in March against 984 per cent in February In the fuel and power basket the rate of price rise was 3452 per cent during the month Inflation in crude petroleum spiked to 8356 per cent in March from 5517 per cent during February Retail inflation spiked to 695 per cent in March -- the third consecutive month that the consumer price index has breached the RBIs tolerance limit of 6 per cent data released last week showed The Reserve Bank earlier this month kept its key repo rate -- at which it lends short-term money to banks -- unchanged for the 11th time in a row at 4 per cent to support growth PTI JD DRR
New Delhi [India], February 28 (ANI): Signalling economic recovery, the output of eight infrastructure sectors registered a growth of 3.7 per cent in January 2022 against 1.3 per cent in the corresponding period of the last year, pushed by strong production of coal, natural gas and cement industries. The core sector industries- coal, crude oil, natural gas, refinery products, fertilisers, steel, cement and electricity- expanded by 4.1 per cent in December 2021.
