The Rajya Sabha on Thursday passed the Wild Life (Protection) Amendment Bill, 2022 which is intended to amend the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 to incorporate more species protected under the law.
In 2017, chimpanzee babies were rescued from smuggling to other countries. When they were smuggled, chimpanzees were just a few months old. After taking care of them for about 5 years, chimp couples were introduced to the public in late April this year and now have become celebrities with people swarming around their newly built house.
