Hyderabad Dec 23 PTI In the biggest ever haul of cocaine in Telangana the Cyberabad Police on Thursday said 183 grams of the narcotic substance was seized and three people including a drug peddler were arrested in this connection A police team on Wednesday apprehended two persons consumers from a flat here along with two grams of cocaine and based on their information the police took into custody the drug peddler who is an Arabic Tutor from his house and seized 181 grams of cocaine and 44 ecstasy tablets In addition to this three mobile phones were also seized The value of the seized items is estimated at Rs 2628 lakh Cyberabad Police Commissioner M Stephen Raveendra said adding this is the biggest haul of cocaine till date in Telangana The drug peddler told police that in view of the New Year he procured huge quantity of cocaine from the main organiser and drug supplier Zude alias Chris belonging to Nigeria and a resident of Goa who is absconding The accused further disclosed that he brought cocaine many times from Goa and sold it in Hyderabad police said The Commissioner said during 2021 till now a total of 202 cases were registered by Cyberabad Police and as many as 419 accused were arrested from whom ganja hashish oil weed oil MDMA Opium ecstasy pills LSD papers were seized Preventive Detention PD Act was invoked against 23 drug offenders Police has stepped up its drive against ganja trade in Cyberabad Commissionerate limits and continuous raids are being conducted on a daily basis Raveendra said Bulk buyers local retailers and drug transporters were on police radar in order to curb ganja peddling and usage the senior police official added PTI VVK BN BN

Hyderabad Nov 17 PTI Sixteen persons who posed as employees of a private sector bank and allegedly cheated the public of Rs three crore and against whom 166 cases have been registered nationwide have been arrested after two fake call centres were busted Cyberabad Police said here on Wednesday Nine of them were arrested in New Delhi after police raided fake call centres and later seven more were nabbed from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh Cyberabad Commissioner of Police Stephen Raveendra told reporters here The Commissioner said the gang was involved in 34 cases in Cyberabad Police Commissionerate and 166 cases all over India and cheated public to the tune of Rs 3 crore after posing themselves as bank employees Police said the fraudsters have vast experience in the banking field By using spoofing calling applications and posing as the private banks employees they contacted credit card holders Then they collected OTPs by misguiding the customers in the name of activation of card or deactivation of insurance or increasing the credit card limit police said adding after collecting OTPs the fraudsters make transactions in their websites using the credit card details of the victims For this purpose they registered six websites and three individual merchants linked them with payment gateways and used them to collect the swindled amount into their bank accounts police added The Cyberabad Police said they took up the probe on a complaint from a customer who lost Rs 97996 after a woman caller posing as a representative from the bank trapped the person by using similar modus operandi A total of 16 accused were arrested so far in this operation seven more accused are absconding Raveendra said adding that some more call centers run by the kingpin needed to be identifiedPTI VVK APR APR
