Mumbai Dec 27 PTI Amid concerns over the health of RBL Bank RBI on Monday assured depositors and stakeholders that the private sector lender is well capitalised and that its financial position is satisfactory even as shares of the bank witnessed a sell off In a raft of developments in the past few days Reserve Bank of India RBI appointed an additional director to RBL Banks board while the lenders MD CEO Vishwavir Ahuja was sent to leave Against this backdrop newly-appointed chief Rajeev Ahuja on Sunday said the financial position of the bank was strong and that the sudden change at the top level was not related to any concerns As concerns persisted RBI on Monday said there has been speculation related to RBL Bank in certain quarters which appears to be arising from recent events surrounding the bank There is no need for depositors and other stakeholders to react to the speculative reports the central bank said and emphasised that the lenders financial health remains stable Shares of RBL took a beating on the bourses and tumbled 1832 per cent to close at Rs 14090 apiece on BSE The scrip also hit its 52-week low of Rs 13235 According to RBI RBL Bank is well capitalised and the financial position of the bank remains satisfactory As per half yearly audited results as on September 30 2021 the bank has maintained a comfortable Capital Adequacy Ratio of 1633 per cent and Provision Coverage Ratio of 766 per cent RBI said in a statement Further it said the Liquidity Coverage Ratio LCR of the bank is 153 per cent as on December 24 2021 as against regulatory requirement of 100 per cent Further it is clarified that appointment of additional directors in private banks is undertaken under Section 36AB of the Banking Regulation Act 1949 as and when it is felt that the board needs closer support in regulatorysupervisory matters RBI said RBL Banks Vishawvir Ahuja stepped down and Rajeev Ahuja was appointed as the interim MD CEO a day after RBI appointed its Chief General Manager Yogesh K Dayal as an additional director on the lenders board Dayal whose appointment is effective from December 24 will stay for two years until December 23 2023 or till further orders whichever is earlier On Sunday Rajeev Ahuja said the banks financial position was strong and it had full support of RBI and its board of directors We have not been in an extreme good since the last 18 months due to the COVIDit is a reflection of some aspect of the portfolio composition some aspect of the environment We want to build a battle tested balance sheet which can withstand many shocks like this he had said The bank made provisions for bad loans and contingencies of over Rs 651 crore in the second quarter ended September of this fiscal In Q1FY22 the provisions stood at over Rs 1384 crore RBL Bank had posted a net profit of Rs 31 crore in the second quarter ended September 2021 as against a net profit of Rs 144 crore in year-ago period It had posted a net loss of Rs 459 crore in the first quarter ended June 2021 Ahuja on Sunday also ruled out any difference of opinion with RBI stating the the dialogue on risk management and compliances are the work in progress and continues on On December 25 bank unions umbrella body AIBEA wrote to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman saying that the bank had high exposure to credit card business retail credit and micro-financing which had weakened its financials Fearing that RBL Bank was going the Yes Bank and Lakshmi Vilas Bank way AIBEA had urged the government to intervene immediately and consider merger of the bank with a public sector bank PTI KPM RAM
New Delhi Nov 29 PTI In a first-ever mid-life overhaul of its old rolling stock the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation DMRC on Monday unveiled its first refurbished train which was introduced into service 14 years ago as part of its Phase-I network This exercise is part of a special drive undertaken by the Delhi Metro to retrofit and upgrade to modern standards all 70 trains which were procured by the urban transporter between 2002 and 2007 and the plan is to complete refurbishment of the first set of 10 trains by September next year a senior official said The first upgraded train now equipped with LCD display fire alarm system CCTV cameras inside and outside coaches and in train operators cabins emergency button charging socket for mobile phone and laptops including via USB cables new flooring and redone exterior was unveiled by DMRC Managing Director Mangu Singh at the Yamuna Bank Depot here We have unveiled today the first refurbished train which was introduced into service in 2007 The upgrade process took about two years An average life span of a metro train is about 30 years and the trains procured during Phase-I from 2002-2007 have already completed 14-19 years of their overall life span Executive Director DMRCs Corporation Communications Anuj Dayal told reporters Hyundai Rotem is the maker of the refurbished train that was unveiled today he said adding that the exercise has been carried out to upgrade the old stock to modern standards and equipping it with latest technology as many features we see in latest trains running on Phase-III network were not present in 2002-2007 period Also this is being done to increase the comfort level of commuters as the flooring had become uneven and cracks had developed at some places That has now been replaced with fibre composite boards to enhance amenities and aesthetic look Dayal added He said the DMRC endeavours to maintain its trains in fine condition through its three-day to eight-year maintenance regimen Maintainance check that takes place after 15 days A- Check involves routine visual inspection of all systems like pantograph traction motors wheels suspension system cab equipment B-1 check takes place after every 45 days or 15000 km whichever is earlier B-4 check takes place every 6-month or 60000 km B-8 check afte one year or 120000 km C-1 check after more than 4 lakh kilometer and C-2 check is undertaken after every eight years and includes overhaul of mechanical pneumatic and electrical aspects officials said But this is a first-ever mid-life overhaul exercise that the DMRC has taken since it began operations Dayal said adding that electrical equipment has also been upgraded The Delhi Metro had begun its commercial operations on December 25 2002 a day after then prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had inaugurated DMRCs first stretch spanning 82 kilometre from Shahdara to Tis Hazari with just six stations Dayal also told reporters that DMRC trains on an average run 400-600 km a day and 16-18 hours a day The senior DMRC official said in the next 10 months the plan is to refurbish one train per month and complete the retrofitting and upgrade of the first set of ten trains by September 2022 adding the total cost of the 10-train project is about Rs 40 crore to Rs 45 crore Initially out of the 10 trains a set of seven are being refurbished at DMRCs Yamuna Bank Depot and three trains at Shastri Park Depot he said The refurbishment is being carried out by a consortium of Escorts Limiteds Railway Equipment Division and South Africa-based Naledi Rail Engineering the DMRC said Tender work is in progress for refurbishment of remaining 60 trains on similar lines a senior official said Trains in Phase-I had four-coach railcars First six-coach train on DMRC network was introduced on December 23 2010 by adding two extra carriage the official said And the first eight-coach train on December 24 2012 by expanding the six-coach railcars The DMRC networks current span is nearly 392 km with 286 stations including the NoidaGreater Noida Metro Corridor and Rapid Metro Gurgaon The total stretch of DMRCs network which is under driverless operations now stands at close to 97 km putting Delhi Metro at fourth position globally among such networks officials earlier said PTI KND CK

Lucknow Aug 30 PTI A private secretary of a senior bureaucrat in the state urban development department allegedly shot himself with a revolver on Monday in a high-security building connected to the Uttar Pradesh Assembly and is stated to be in a critical condition police said The incident occurred on the eighth floor of Bapu Bhawan during the Janmashtami holiday on Monday and it is being probed how Vishwambhar Dayal PS to Additional Chief Secretary Rajnish Dubey got the weapon on the premises having offices of ministers and senior officers Dayal shot himself in the temple and was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital where his condition was stated to be critical the police said Additional Commissioner of Police ACP Hazratganj Raghvendra Mishra said that a probe is on in the matter The revolver appears to be licensed However we are verifying its details the officer said Dubey expressed shock over the incident involving his aide and said that their families had close ties Asked about the PS presence on a holiday and his access to the revolver inside the high-security building Mishra said It will be probed PTI ABN RT RT
