Number of vehicles on Delhi roads increased by 303 pc in 2020-21 over previous year Report

New Delhi Mar 25 PTI The total number of vehicles in the national capital increased by 303 per cent in 2020-21 as compared to the financial year 2019-20 according to the Delhi Economic Survey 2021-22The report of the survey was tabled in the Assembly by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on FridayThe total number of motor vehicles on road in Delhi as on March 31 2021 was 12253 lakh showing 303 per cent growth from the previous year Car and jeeps accounted for around 28 per cent of the total registered motorised vehicles whereas two-wheelers are about 67 per cent of total registered vehicles the report saidIn 2019-2020 the total number of vehicles in Delhi was 11892877The report said of the over 122 crore vehicles 8239550 are two-wheelers while 3384736 are cars and jeepsThe city also has 114869 autorickshaws and 112401 taxisThe report said the daily average passenger ridership in DTC and Cluster buses has gone down during the COVID-19 pandemicThe daily average passenger ridership in DTC was 1224 lakh and 85 lakh in Cluster buses during the year 2020-21 however during the pre-COVID period it was 3331 lakh in DTC buses and 1771 lakh in Cluster buses the report saidIt also said that before the lockdown the average daily passenger journeys of Delhi Metro was about 57 lakh but due to social-distancing norms the average daily passenger journey recorded in the July-to-September quarter of 2021 was 2334 lakh PTI AKM RC

93 pc households in Delhi now have access to piped water supply Economic Survey

New Delhi Mar 25 PTI Around 93 per cent of households in Delhi now have access to piped water supply and water production during the summer season is being maintained at 953 million gallons a day MGD consistently according to the Delhi Economic Survey 2021-22The survey report presented in the assembly on Friday by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also said Delhis water demand is set to increase to 1505 MGD this year against the expected supply of 1200 MGDWater is supplied to about 20 million population through the existing water supply network of 15041-km-long pipelines and about 125 underground reservoirs UGRs it saidBesides a total of 407 new water tankers with stainless steel containers fitted with GPS have been engaged in improving the water tanker supply delivery system in the city Apart from these approx 530 mild steel hired tankers during peak summer 250 newly purchased stainless steel tankers are being added to the existing fleet to supplement water supply in water deficit areas the report saidBased on the norm of 60 gallons per capita per day GPCD a population of 23 million as per projections required 1380 MGD of water this monthIt said the government has been able to provide regular water supply to 1583 88 per cent of the 1797 unauthorised colonies while 602 have been connected to the sewer network so far PTI GVS ANB ANB
