New Delhi Apr 18 PTI Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana on Monday said 23 people belonging to two different communities have been arrested so far in connection with the Jahangirpuri violence and refuted claims that attempts were made to hoist saffron flags at a mosque during Hanuman Jayanti procession During a media briefing Asthana asserted that those involved in the violent clashes will not be spared irrespective of class creed or religionNo there was no attempt to hoist any saffron flag at the mosque during the procession Asthana said when asked if the clashes broke out after attempts were made by some to hoist the flag Several politicians and social media users had alleged that some people tried to hoist a flag on a mosque in Jahangirpuri that led to stone pelting and violence When asked about the BJPs allegation that one of the arrested accused was affiliated to the AAP Asthana refused to comment and said an offender is an offender We go by evidence and not by associations he responded Clashes had broken out during a Hanuman Jayanti procession in the citys Jahangirpuri area on Saturday in which nine policemen and a civilian was injuredThe investigation into the clashes has been handed over to the Crime Branch and 14 teams have been formed to take it forward Asthana said adding that four forensics teams also visited the spot to gather evidence Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations IFSO unit of Delhi Polices Special Cell has been given the responsibility to identify those involved in the case by doing a thorough and detailed analysis of digital evidence and accordingly legal action will be taken against them the Delhi Police chief said Those trying to disrupt the atmosphere through social media will also not be spared he saidWe are analysing the social media and if required those spreading false news misinformation or tweeting any rumour with an intention to disturb the environment will not be spared and legal action will be taken against them he said Noting that some people were trying to spread rumours on social media to keep the situation tense Asthana appealed to people to ignore them The probe will cover all angles through the analysis of CCTV footage and digital inputs he said Recalling the incident on Saturday Asthana said around 415 pm a procession had started on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti The routes taken were traditional and around 615 pm those in front of the procession moved ahead However those who were following them stopped after getting into a heated argument following which stones were pelted Asthana said The police chief lauded the effort of the force saying this shows that the personnel separated both the groups and saved public from getting injured We have registered a case and 23 people from both communities have been held so far Eight among them have previous criminal records he said He said three firearms and five swords have also been seized from the accused so far Elaborating about the probe he said thorough analysis of digital evidence is being done based on the footage of CCTV cameras Based on that more people have been identified and legal action will be taken against them after their interrogation he saidSocial media video footage digital evidence received will be investigated from all angles he said assuring that no one who is directly or indirectly involved in the incident will be spared Along with investigations police have also held meetings with peace committees and are trying to restore peace and tranquillity in sensitive areas Asthana said He stated that peace committee meetings were held earlier also and such meetings will continue to avoid any disturbance from miscreants who usually participate in such activities to disturb the harmony PTI AMP NIT VIT KVK KVK

New Delhi Jan 30 PTI A freelance journalist was arrested for allegedly impersonating Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and sending forged letters to several public sector units in a bid to obtain advertisements for his newspaper in 2016 police said on Sunday Adityanath was then a Lok Sabha MP from Gorakhpur Accused Manoj Kumar Seth 41 was arrested from his native Bhubaneshwar in Odisha by the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations IFSO unit of Delhi Polices Special Cell they said Rajbhushan Singh Rawat personal secretary to Adityanath had filed a police complaint alleging that some unknown persons had created a fake email ID using the BJP leaders credentials According to Rawat the accused had sent emails and forged letters to public sector units such as Power Grid Corporation of India ONGC and GAIL India The accused also attached scanned letters with forged signatures of Adityanath Deputy Commissioner of Police IFSO KPS Malhotra said during the course of the investigation the fake email ID yogiadityanathmpgmailcom was identified and its contents were analysed to understand the motive The alleged email was with a request to release advertisements in favour of an English newspaper Similarly fake emails and fake letters were sent to ONGC and GAIL for advertisement support in favour of another newspaper Through the IP address analysis and human intelligence we identified the accused as Manoj Kumar Seth Malhotra said Police said Seths plan had not been successful and that he had been continuously changing his hideouts to evade investigators since then Though several raids were conducted at his possible hideouts he managed to give the police a slip every time A dedicated team headed by ACP Raman was constituted to nab him police said On Friday Seth was arrested from Bhubaneshwar by our team and during interrogation he revealed that he is a freelance journalist and also publishes a fortnightly newspaper He had created the fake email ID and prepared the forged letters to seek advertisement support in favour of his local newspapers Malhotra said Seth is also involved in a case of extortion in 2020 at Chaliya Ganj police station in Cuttack on the complaint of an executive engineer of the public works department Odisha police said PTI AMP CJ CJ

New Delhi Jan 24 PTI The Delhi Polices Cyber Cell on Monday said a Delhi-based businessmans cryptocurrencies were allegedly stolen and transferred to the wallets of Al-Qassam Brigades the military wing of Palestinian organisation Hamas The matter came to light in 2019 when the businessman reported at Paschim Vihar police station that some unknown persons had fraudulently transferred cryptocurrencies from his wallet they said The cryptocurrencies were worth about Rs 30 lakh and its current value is Rs 4 crore police said On the orders of a court the investigation into the case was later transferred to the Cyber Crime Unit of Delhi Polices Special Cell Deputy Commissioner of Police Cyber Cell KPS Malhotra said During the course of investigation the cryptocurrency trail led to startling facts that the cryptocurrencies have ended up in the wallets maintained by Al-Qassam Brigates which is the military wing of Palestinian organisation Hamas and to the wallets which have already been seized by Israels National Bureau for Counter Terror Financing The seized wallet belongs to Mohammad Naseer Ibrahim Abdulla One wallet to which a major share of the cryptocurrencies have been transferred is being operated from Giza Egypt and it belongs to Ahmed Marzooq while another wallet belongs to Ahmed Q H Safi a resident of Ramallah Palestinian the officer said The investigation conducted so far has revealed that the bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies were fraudulently transferred from the wallet of the businessman he added The police said they have recovered all details of these accounts and while some of them were used for financing terror operations others were used for accessing child pornography PTI AMP SMN SMN
