Delhi: Wanted gold smuggler nabbed by Narcotics Cell, Crime Branch

New Delhi [India], January 1 (ANI): Narcotics cell and Crime branch of Delhi Police nabbed a wanted gold smuggler, Mohammed Shakeel who was at large and was wanted in a Customs Gold seizure case dated February 20, 2021, of 7.790-kilo grams of Foreign Origin Gold, seized from Terminal 3, IGI Airport, New Delhi.

New Delhi : The central government has brought two ordinances to extend the tenure of Central Bureau of Investigation and Directorate of Enforcement for up to the period of five years. The present tenure of the central government agency chiefs is of two years. Both the ordinances have been signed off by President of India Ram Nath Kovind. According to sources, “Provided that the period for which the Director of Enforcement holds the office on his initial appointment may, in public interest, on the recommendation of the Committee under clause(a) and for the reason to be recorded in writing, be extended up to one year at a time,” the Central Vigilance Commission (Amendment) Ordinance 2021 said.

Social Justice Ministry for decriminalising possession of small amount of drugs for personal use

New Delhi Oct 24 PTI The Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry has recommended decriminalising possession of small quantities of drugs for personal consumption in its review of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances NDPS Act submitted to the Revenue Department Currently there is no provision for relief or exemption under the NDPS Act and it only gives addicts immunity from prosecution and imprisonment if they volunteer for rehabilitation In its recommendations shared with the Department of Revenue last week the ministry suggested decriminalising possession of small quantities of drugs for personal consumption officials said The ministry suggested that the compulsory treatment in government centres must be given to those caught with small quantities for personal consumption instead of a jail term an official said Possession of drugs is a criminal offence in India and Section 27 of the NDPS Act prescribes imprisonment of up to a year or a fine of up to Rs 20000 or both for consumption of any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance Actor Shah Rukh Khans son Aryan Khan has been arrested under this section PTI UZM SMN SMN
