Mumbai Apr 19 PTI The rupee fell 22 paise to close at 7651 provisional against the US dollar on Tuesday tracking a strong American currency in the overseas market and significant foreign fund outflowsAt the interbank foreign exchange market the rupee opened at 7634 against the American currency and settled at 7651 down 22 paise from the previous closeDuring the session the rupee witnessed an intra-day high of 7625 and a low of 7653 against the American currencyOn Monday the rupee had ended 10 paise lower at 7629 against the US dollarAccording to Dilip Parmar Research Analyst HDFC Securities the rupee depreciated following foreign fund outflows from domestic equitiesGlobal investors rushed towards safe-haven currencies taking cues of higher global bond yieldsSurging commodity prices hawkish central bank and geopolitical worries stalled global growth recoveries Iyer saidA stronger dollar index foreign fund outflows and higher crude oil prices could push USDINR towards 7670 while the central banks dollar supply may limit the upside he said adding that the pair is expected to hold support around the psychological level of 76The rupee depreciated for the fourth straight day during which it has lost 38 paise against the American currencyThe dollar index which gauges the greenbacks strength against a basket of six currencies was trading 002 per cent higher at 10079Global oil benchmark Brent crude futures fell 118 per cent to USD 11182 per barrelOn the domestic equity market front the 30-share Sensex ended 70359 points or 123 per cent lower at 5646315 points while the broader NSE Nifty plunged 21500 points or 125 per cent to 1695865 pointsForeign institutional investors were net sellers in the capital market on Monday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 638745 crore as per stock exchange data PTI DRR BAL

Rupee logs best day in 12 weeks soars 42 paise against USD

Mumbai Jan 31 PTI The Indian rupee on Monday clocked its biggest single-day rise in 12 weeks by surging 42 paise at 7465 against the US dollar in line with positive regional currencies and buoyant domestic equities At the interbank forex market the local unit opened strong at 7497 against the greenback and witnessed an intra-day high of 7460 and a low of 7505 It finally settled at 7465 a rise of 42 paise over its previous close In the previous session the rupee had settled at 7507 against the US dollar Meanwhile Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday presented the Economic Survey 2021-22 As per the pre-Budget Economic Survey Indias economy is expected to grow by 8-85 per cent in the fiscal beginning April 1 and is well placed to meet the future challenges on the back of widespread vaccine coverage supply-side reforms and easing of regulations The Indian rupee appreciated in line with regional currencies as risk sentiments recovered Domestic benchmark index Sensex rose more than a percentage said Dilip Parmar Research Analyst HDFC Securities The market is currently pricing in foreign inflows from the inclusion of Indian sovereign in the global bond index Though surging oil prices add to worries over inflation and could change the fiscal maths in Tuesdays Union Budget announcement Parmar said USDINR is expected to trade volatile within the range of 7430 to 7550 in the coming days Parmar noted This is the second straight session of gain for the local unit during which it has added 47 paise against the American currency On the domestic equity market front the BSE Sensex ended 81394 points or 142 per cent higher at 5801417 while the broader NSE Nifty jumped 23790 points or 139 per cent to 1733985 Meanwhile the dollar index which measures the greenbacks strength against the basket of six currencies fell 027 per cent to 9700 Brent crude futures the global oil benchmark was trading 087 per cent higher at USD 9081 per barrel Foreign institutional investors were net sellers in the capital market on Friday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 504534 crore as per stock exchange data PTI DRR MKJ

Mumbai Jan 21 PTI The rupee advanced by 8 paise to close at 7443 provisional against the US dollar on Friday on the back of easing crude oil prices and dollar selling by banks and exporters However the rupees further recovery was restricted by continuous foreign fund outflows and sell-offs in domestic equities analysts said At the interbank foreign exchange market the rupee opened at 7450 a dollar and during the day it witnessed an intra-day high of 7440 and a low of 7455 against the American currency The domestic unit finally settled at 7443 provisional against the American currency up 8 paise over its last close of 7451 Meanwhile the US dollar index which measures the greenbacks strength against the basket of six currencies fell 013 per cent to 9561 The Indian rupee appreciated on back of fall in crude oil prices corporate dollar inflows along with exporters dollar selling and debt raising helped the rupee in trimming weekly losses said Dilip Parmar Research Analyst HDFC Securities During this week the local currency has depreciated 28 paise against the US dollar On a weekly basis spot USDINR marked the first loss in the last five weeks on the back of a surge in virus cases higher crude oil prices and policy divergence between US Federal Reserves and Indian RBI Parmar said In the coming days price action of USDINR will be determined by Crude oil prices Federal Open Market Committee FOMC meeting outcome risk sentiments and dollar inflows he added Brent crude futures the global oil benchmark fell 195 per cent to USD 8666 per barrel On the domestic equity market front the BSE Sensex ended 42744 points or 072 per cent lower at 5903718 while the broader NSE Nifty declined 13985 points or 079 per cent to 1761715 PTI DRR Foreign institutional investors were net sellers in the capital market on Thursday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 467984 crore as per stock exchange data PTI DRR MKJ

Mumbai Nov 26 PTI The rupee on Friday plunged by 37 paise against the US dollar as investors turned cautious in view of massive selloffs in domestic equities and worries over a new variant of COVID-19 At the interbank foreign exchange market the local currency opened at 7460 and witnessed an intra-day high of 7458 and a low of 7492 against the US dollar in day trade The local unit settled at 7489 a dollar down 37 paise over its previous close of 7452 The dollar index which gauges the greenbacks strength against a basket of six currencies was trading 034 per cent down at 9644 Rupee erased all the gains of the month following risk-off moods after worries over a new variant of COVID-19 surges Month-end dollar demand and unwinding of carry trade in global forex markets also weighed on rupee Dilip Parmar Research Analyst HDFC Securities The rupee registered its biggest weekly fall after October 8 and closed at its weakest level since November 2 Parmar said A level above 75 will clear the way for 7568 weakest level of the year Parmar said adding that now the support has been shifted from 7380 to 7430 Meanwhile Brent crude futures the global oil benchmark declined 550 per cent to USD 7770 per barrel On the domestic equity market front the BSE Sensex ended 168794 points or 287 per cent lower at 5710715 while the broader NSE Nifty declined 50980 points or 291 per cent to 1702645 Foreign institutional investors were net sellers in the capital market on Thursday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 230065 crore as per exchange data PTI DRR MR MR

Mumbai Oct 29 PTI The rupee gained 4 paise to close at 7488 provisional against the US dollar on Friday despite volatile domestic equities as IPO-related inflows and some pullback in crude oil prices supported the local unit At the interbank forex market the domestic unit opened at 7478 against the greenback and witnessed an intra-day high of 7474 and a low of 7498 during the days trade It finally ended at 7488 a dollar On Thursday the rupee had settled at 7492 against the US currency The dollar index which gauges the greenbacks strength against a basket of six currencies advanced 022 per cent to 9355 This week remained relatively calmer even after volatile domestic equities however retreat of crude oil and dollar index from high added tailwind in rupee said Dilip Parmar Research Analyst HDFC Securities With multiple IPOs lined up in coming weeks dollar supply looks huge but at the same time weakness in equities could limit the price action within range Parmar said The downside as well as upside remains capped with the market heading towards a holiday truncated week From the level front spot USDINR is likely to consolidate in the range of 7470 to 7520 Parmar said On the domestic equity market front the BSE Sensex fell 67777 points or 113 per cent to end at 5930693 while the broader NSE Nifty tanked 18560 points or 104 per cent to 1767165 Brent crude futures the global oil benchmark rose 021 per cent to USD 8450 per barrel Foreign institutional investors were net sellers in the capital market Thursday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 381851 crore as per exchange data PTI DRR MKJ

Mumbai Aug 30 PTI The rupee surged by 40 paise to close at 7329 provisional against the US dollar on Monday supported by a firm trend in domestic equities and a weak American currency At the interbank forex market the local unit opened strong at 7346 against the greenback and later gained strength to settle at 7329 higher by 40 paise over its previous close of 7369 The local unit moved in a range of 7321 to 7354 in the day trade The rupee logged the third straight session of gain on Monday In the three trading sessions the local unit appreciated by 95 paise against the US dollar Meanwhile the dollar index which gauges the greenbacks strength against a basket of six currencies was trading unchanged at 9268 The Indian rupee continued Fridays upward momentum and became the second-best performing currency among Asian basket said Dilip Parmar Research Analyst HDFC Securities The weakness in the dollar a sharp surge in demand for risk assets and expectations of high dollar inflows in the coming month through FDI and FII routes well-supported the Indian rupee Parmar added Spot USDINR is expected to head towards a psychological level of 73 once the level of 7320 breaks and find resistance at 7365 he noted On the domestic equity market front the BSE Sensex ended 76504 points or 136 per cent higher at 5688976 while the broader NSE Nifty advanced 22585 points or 135 per cent to 1693105 Brent crude futures the global oil benchmark fell 022 per cent to USD 7254 per barrel Foreign institutional investors were net sellers in the capital market on Friday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 77875 crore as per exchange data PTI DRR MR MR
